March Madness Bracket 4- The curse of Don Mattingly

Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

Looks like bjs also noticed your (and my) overeliance on LH bats. He picked up lefty killer the Candyman.

The Weak Sisters are experimenting with a few things in this league. I may as well have some fun while being taken to the cleaners.

Here's hoping that Gullickson brings home some bacon (he has underperformed every other time I have had him) and Ivan is Terrible (by that I mean Terrible to opposing pitchers).

Play Ball!

I think I've only tried out the Candyman one time and ended up dropping him. I've seen him do really well before though so I'm rooting for some lightning in a bottle! :D

When I look at past teams and who I've owned, I'm usually amazed at some of the names in this game that I've never finished a season with. I think all of us end up falling into patterns like this though. We get comfortable with our favorite players and sometimes downright superstitious about a few of them saying: "those guys ALWAYS give me good cards." LOL I know I do...

Self Smack

Postby gmac94 » Thu Apr 20, 2006 10:50 am

We are a smackless bunch!

No one out there wants to smack Tekulve for giving up four dingers in one half-inning?

No problem - I smacked him myself - right back to the Free Agent pile.

Hitting .359...pretty sure it's his 1992 card...

Glenn Davis, Mattingly's "replacement" at 1B did hit 3 dingers in a game last night...Ken Phelps is injured already...

We're smackless because all of you have been scared off of your championship dreams by the Hootersville Scarecrows. Yes, that's the very same Scarecrows that are 11th in hitting and 9th in pitching. Pathetic!

I know the Cinderella Men (must be transvestites) have a better record, but they will soon be revealed as the shabby scrub girls they really are.

Since you're all so demoralized right now you've probably forgotten the rules, so here's a refresher. The top eight teams in each bracket make it to the next round! Though you can't defeat the Scarecrows, you can still salvage the season by coming in 2nd through 8th place. That's right, 8th place! Probably an attainable goal for even the worst of the teams and managers in this bracket. Well maybe not. Jablowmi might as well advance a couple of last place teams in the other brackets rather than let any of your pitiful teams move up!:P

Jeez, there's two transvestite Cinderella teams in this bracket. The fairy godmother's wand must be a crack pipe!

Thought I'd check in with the Tourney Bombers. Only 8-7, but 3rd in offense and 1st in pitching, which I hope promises good things to come. I got Carew instead of Hernandez and he's hitting .400 and Evans instead of Gwynn and he's leading my team in HR's( a measely four) and RBI(17) after 15 games. As usual in the 80's, you need to get a little lucky.
