Maybe I should get her a team so she can complain (as she does about SOM) in the forum too.

Well, as every single one of my players hates me, I haven't been able to generate sufficient enthusiasm to whine here on the boards...as George Carlin said about rebellious Rice Crispies, "they can just sit there in the milk!"

Pick a Part Recycled Players

Postby Semper Gumby » Tue Oct 10, 2006 8:29 pm

Okay

Not that anyone gives a rat's arse anymore in this league but what player on the free agent hasn't been used besides John Butcher?

Well, perusing the first two pages of free agent hitters (ranked by salary), I noticed something other than how many players that used to be on my team are currently languishing there - there are only 6 players who haven't been tried out yet - Kevin McReynolds, Milt Thompson, Johnny Grubb, Cliff Johnson, Jeffrey Leonard and Garry Maddox...except for Johnson all outfielders. God help you if you have lingering infield issues...

There are 17 pitchers listed on the first two pages of free agents who are still unmarked by competition in this league - Langston (of course), Hough, Darling, Morris, Flanagan, Boddicker, Show, Plunk, Guzman, Norris, M. Young, Bannister, Terrell, Harris, Gross, McCaskill and Palmer. Feelin' lucky?

This is the noisy bracket

Postby JIMDAKE » Tue Oct 10, 2006 9:16 pm

I think my bracket's thread is on page 2 now.
Dunno, maybe owners are just PO'd....like we got all the #4 cards....most teams are sliding toward .44x to .50x mediocrity except for Kevin Matchstick who's killing everybody. I have good-to-servicable starters but can't find a --get this-- DH -- to save my soul. Hojo, dud. Thompson, dud, Evans, dud, Bonilla, dud, Rose, dud, Simmons, dud, Thompson again, still a dud, super-platoons Castillo and Carmelo M, not impressive. Alvin Dark and Ron Kittle are now battling it out (weakly), first to 10 RBIs gets the job I think. And Jacoby's worst-year card is platooning with an unimpressive Wayne Gross. (I'd flush Jacoby but nobody else is hitting lefties). A winning record with RS < RA (consistently). Go figure.

I'm "Stupidstitious"

Postby bjs73 » Tue Oct 10, 2006 10:22 pm

That's my made up word for being superstitious despite of my knowledge of stats and probability.

Not that being superstitious has gotten me anywhere or anything. LOL My superstition is that the moment I start talking about how well my team is playing, they will start their slow spiral to the abyss.

Well, considering what my guys have done in the last 20 games, I'm going to break the silence.

It's been a real pain in the arse with this team and trying to make it all work. My defense has been horrendus all season. I'm convinced that I have better seasons from my pitching cards than what is shown, so I've stuck it out. The only true reveal that I know is that I DO NOT have P. Perez's worst card. Sure doesn't feel like it - or - *gasp* - I've been clinging to a card that I thought wasn't the worst one but actually is the worst one. That was a mouthful. I've had 5-6 teams going at a time for the past 16 weeks and I have a lot of overlap.

In any event, I'm glad I couldn't trade Canseco in preseason. Tartabull turned out to be roses. I personally believe that I've got J. Clark's .300 BA year. Henderson and Greenwell have been lighting it up too.

I made due with Molitor's worst card all season because I didn't see anything better for the price and he was producing. Yet, I needed his salary at the end to try and bring some balance to my order. I had to cut Sid the Kid too.

All of these moves are going to make or break me here at the end. I'm glad that the race for 6 spots is still pretty tight. I just need a little hot streak here at the end to bring it all to together...

I just want to make it to the final round.....

The battle of big vs. 'roids is coming to a heat in this league between my
much dogged [b:42d634ed95]Jim Rice [/b:42d634ed95]and [b:42d634ed95]Mr. Canseco[/b:42d634ed95].

I sense Jim took the hint when he saw Pedro G, Gorman Thomas, and D. Strawberry hit the pavements before 80% hit.

Frankly, I am surprised this team stays a float. My pitching and hitting have been Ying and Yang all season. I make just enough runs to bail my arms out. I suffered long enough with Henke (I suspect he had his worse card working for me as he had nothing but RHBs to face!).

Gossage has been dismissal but dismissal beats the gas can that Bruce Sutter brought to the mound every outing.

If I didn't have Jessie (either his worse card or best card at play here), I'd surely be in a deep pile of dooey.

Otherwise, I am just happy Jerry Browne is swing a nice bat and Tim Raines pays my faith in TSN's game engine by getting tossed out again and again.

Well, injury reveals that I've got one of Ojeda's best cards. Sure doesn't look like it.

I feel good that my instincts were correct about keeping him though.

Talk about a hard luck player (in real life) - damn :(

He had a rough time with the boat and gardening.
