Team Preview

Postby YountFan » Tue Jan 24, 2006 8:24 pm

Atlanta (YF) - Bringing the power of the Brewers with a little help from the Braves the slammers from Atlants hope to capture the divisional crown. A lineup featuring Molitor, Yount, Dale Murphy, Cooper, Oglivie, Simmon , Horner and Gorman Thomas they are sure to score some runs. The only problem with an offense like that is paying for it. The money left over will allow the fans to cheer for Higuera, Sutton and Bosio and whatever 4th starter managment can afford. Bedrosian and Assenmaker anchor the pen

Sneak Peak at the Blue Jays

Postby seanreflex » Tue Jan 24, 2006 8:48 pm

TORONTO (AP) - A rotation of Key, Steib, Clancy, Blue, Krukow. A bullpen of Henke, Eichorn, Lefferts, Lavelle, Ward.

A lineup of Butler, D.Garcia, J.Clark, W.Clark, Mitchell, Chili, Fernandez, & George Bell or Joe Carter.

This team should certainly hold its own in a very challening division.

The almighty Jose Lind

Postby honestiago1 » Wed Jan 25, 2006 8:54 am

Well, I did say SOME lumber (the rest of the guys are okay -- I hope). And come on -- what's not to like about Lind? I can't wait to watch this team win the pennant with Lind serving as a 2B version of Oyler, batting .194 with 8 2B's, 1 3B, and 24 RBI (those are my projections for Jose, of course).

Raiding rosters

Postby honestiago1 » Thu Jan 26, 2006 4:24 pm

I imagine that several of us are going to raid TEX and CLE for a player after series #1. CLE has quite a few good bats and Blyleven. TEX might have someone I can use (wish I ahd a real lead off man).

Hargrove

Postby YountFan » Tue Jan 31, 2006 7:55 am

Hargrove died in a plane crash because he is a franshise player. Or at least that is how I rememeber the rules.

Although this:

6) NON-DRAFTED (NDT) TEAMS: One EAST and one WEST team willl be undrafted after the team draft phase. Players from these two teams are available to franchises, provided they appear on the GM’s “by team” screens. “Franchise players” from non-drafted teams are simply not available at all. They all died in that terrible plane crash, and are thus buried and forgotten.

EXAMPLE #1: SEA ends up being an NDT. Richie Zisk, a 3y-SEA player not available during autodraft, is still available to the TEX franchise, as he has 2y in TEX. He won’t be available to anyone else, however.

EXAMPLE #2: MIN ends up an NDT, as everyone is completely afraid of taking on their pitching staff. There are still plenty of MIN players available out there (like the immortal Ron Davis, who is still available to the Yankees). Unfortunately, all those wonderful 5-MIN stalwarts (among them Viola, Puckett, Gagne, Hrbek and Gaetti) are all simply unavailable. They’re gone – poof! Finito. (Too bad they boarded the death plane that day.)

Conflicts with this and the Reynolds example:

10) “RAIDS”: Once per season, and ONLY after the season has begun (the team must have played a series), any team may “raid” ONE NDT roster for ONE PLAYER. This is a first-come, first serve basis, and the team must announce via e-mail to all that the raid has been made. This email should include the name of the player taken. Raided players CANNOT be traded and, if released are available for later raids by other teams.

EXAMPLE: SEA is an undrafted team. After playing a single series, I decide to dump my starting 2B and pilfer Harold Reynolds (a 5y-SEA) from SEA. After doing so, I e-mail the rest of the league and inform them of my coup. I can no longer raid either NDT roster for the rest of the year. If I release Harold later, anyone who has not used up their “raid” option may do so. NOTE: Raid options ARE tradable commodities.

honestiago please make a ruling

The Raid is an exception

Postby honestiago1 » Tue Jan 31, 2006 8:51 am

All players on NDT rosters are eligible to be raided. The NDT 5y's are protected by their franchise status only during draft phase. Once season starts, they are fair game.
