I wonder why TSN hasn't explained the result?

I bumped this in response to the question Pyramid1 posted. The plain fact is that either the injury reveals can be wrong or Hal is doing some things we dont know about. In the case of this original thread, the injury reveal was wrong OR Hal had a 'C' bunter try to bunt for a hit even though he was set to 'don't bunt' and the manager setting was 'extra conservative'. (Confirmed by other manager). Either way, this is very bad. Any other thoughts on this?

[quote]I have been very skeptical of the new "Hal" logic Bernieh applied to the 80's game over the summer. I have seen some very 'unusual' results in just about every league I have been in since the new logic took over.

I agree. Since the new logic I dont see the offensive production as a team like it used to be. There were always multiple teams scoring 1000 runs plus a season. Now there are very few in the leagues I have played in. Is "Hal" really bunting for hits now when the batter should be swinging away. Makes me wonder.

What year is this?

Deleon injured. Result lineout with Franklin Stubbs batting. Deleon does not have a lineout against a left handed batter.

I't's one of the GB(x) results on his 88 or 89 cards.

Thanks. I guess logic doesn't work in this situation. To me, a ground ball is not a line drive.

How can a GB(X) translate out to a lineout??

I'm assuming a line out is one of the possible results on the Super Advanced Fielding Chart.

Let's assume it is just a glitch in HAL's system. You can come up with different theories but the most reasonable answer is "glitch".

In 1987, Stubbs did hit from the right side in a game that was a blowout in which the opposing pitcher was an outfielder during the 9th inning. Does that mean his year is 1987? Maybe, but HAL is just not that smart and computers lack creativity. Many hitters switched sides for fun during their careers. Even Cardinals Lefty Tudor batted the other way against the Phillies Don Carmen in 1988.

Bottom line, it is a glitch and we have certainly seen enough of them in the 80s.
