Well I've got no problem taking Ripken with the #1 in waivers. In fact he looks a perfect choice.
Now I've never subscribed to the ignore pitching in a hitters park school of thought. So if it were me, next I'd be targetting at least one ace pitcher of the Key type.
While I would agree with Jimmy that you don't need to throw guys out in Tiger, you still need someone who can hit lefties and hit for power. The aforementioned Tettleton and Simmons would be my first choices. If they or the other star catchers aren't available, I'd start my platoon with Porter, Gedman or Whitt before I'd go with Hassey. lots of cheap options on the other side.
You've got some great pieces though. Brett, soon Ripken, Whitaker, McGwire, Parker, Lynn. Ogilvie. I can't decide whether I'd go with Davis as DH or whether to use Gibson and maybe a platoon. While I like both Deer and Parrish in Tiger, I don't think you need to spend that much and Parrish is not particularly tilted anyway. Incaviglia or Roberts would do. You could even get one of them instead of Bush even if you are going with the Davis option instead of the Gibson platoon option.
Then buy pitching. That's me.
