Live draft...why not?

Math for Marines!

Postby Semper Gumby » Sat Feb 25, 2006 5:22 pm

Lions, tigers, and TWO MARINES in this league?

One MEU, three Expeditionary actions, one UDP, and 22 years - I've never met one other Marine who admitted to playing Strat-o-Matic Baseball.

In two leagues here, I've met at least three so far.

Strat or Porn ???

Gumby, it was either join the Marine Corps and be a closet Strato player, or join the Army and suffer the embarrassment of a gay porn scandal --- I think I made the right choice.

My father, a retired Marine (one of only a handful of men who served active duty in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam) would probably agree I made the right choice to join the Corps; the only regret he had was the day I was handed my DD214.

Good luck in this league; it should be alot of fun. Guys like Ugly, Jimmy, YountFan make the leagues fun ...Fletch is always a blast. My Montana comrade, Billings Baller, is also a good sport. Should be a good, COMPETITIVE league.

Once TSN/Strat get their website issues ironed out, we'll be able to get this thing fired and have a blast. Live drafts are fun.

If Penn opts not to join (I hope he does join), we can still do the live draft through his website, right?

Sean

Hey Ugly...great to have you join. Yeah, I started this because there wasn't anything "strat" to do and didn't look like there would be for a while. The only way out short-term seemed to be a live draft.

Only one more to go, and hopefully Penn checks in soon. I left him a message on his PM, in a league we are in together, and on the online boards so hopefully he will check in.

Lord help me. I just bought a 5 pack the other day and this team will put me at 6 active teams. I need therapy.

I'm a sucker for the live draft format though.

P.S. Sean, my living room project is back on schedule. The artist is back and she's filling in the skyline of Wrigley Field around CF and RF today. The green scoreboard is up but without detail currently. It'll always be an afternoon game at Wrigley in my living room when it is completed.

All right BJ...glad you could make it!! Great idea...I would paint Shea Stadium in my livingroom, but I can't figure out how to get jet planes to fly over it every 10 minutes. Which leads me to ask...How are you getting the elevated subway to run past your Wrigley every 10 minutes? :D

OK...we gotta wait for Penn...I wouldn't ask a guy to use his site and not reserve a spot for him. If he's in by 9pm EST (I don't think any lottery results come in before then) then we use tonights numbers for draft position.

BJ, that is so freakin' cool !!! I can't wait to see the images. Tell your painter that I'll pay her air fare to NH to paint the Green Monster of Fenway in my family room ... I'm sure my wife wouldn't mind

And, if your artist painter is good lookin', I'll make it a one-way fare. Again, I'm sure my wife won't mind. I can hear her now: "C'mon, Sean, not ANOTHER three-way fantasy this month !!"

I hope Penn joins. It'll be a blast.

Whatever happened to DJ Trickster?? I sure hope he's okay.

And, I was wondering -- if it takes TSN a few more days to get the website straight and get games going again, do you think they'll play more than 6 games a night, or do you think they'll play 9, 12, or 15 games in one night to catch it up? Or, do you think they'll just delay it a complete week if it takes more than 4 days to get back up?

I'm not complainin', I'm just curious what y'all think. I know Bernie's trying hard and doing all he can do. Heck, I've bought 50 teams in the last two and a half years, and will probably by another 50 in the next two years. No fair-weather fan here.

BJ, you've got 6 teams active; I have 8 ---- I think I am certifiably insane !!

Hey Parkav97...I'd love nothing more to git-r-done right now. I gotta give Penn a shot though. If he decides to not join, then your the 12th man. As I haven't heard from Penn all day, it probably means that we'll have to set the order till tomorrow. :(
