Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

That was the worst draft card I have ever had. I decided to go for G. Carter for the first time ever, and even listed him #1 and didn't get him. No on Puckett at #2 as well. I have also never had trouble getting Higuera, but didn't get the "ace" of my staff, so not sure what I am going to do there.

I also didn't get many of my cheap players and I ranked some of those fairly high. This is definitely a rebuilding process. I have loaded up some proxies, but will be out for the day, so will have to fine tune later tomorrow night.

Yup, Ive been missing Murphy at #2 more and more. Glad I went to 1 this time. Missed Hig at 4. Who takes Hig 3? ouch. Then I miss Soto. thats a lot of cash sitting around on 2 pitchers you didnt want. FErnando is at least playable... but Langston!

oh, by the way, no complainging about missing Pucket when you get Eric Davis instead!

sorry, BP, got confused by the posts. I see you missed Hig and got Lemmon for Pucket. That does suck.

Took a break from bracketology, sorry. To continue....

Number 9 Seed - AdamKatz - 6 Playoff Appearances, No rings.

An enthusiastic, quick learner, will make his mark on this tournament and in the Strat scene for a long time. Can no longer consider him a novice. Just a matter of time before he wins his first ring, plays mainly vet leagues, so once he wins one a potential slew of others will follow. Just needs that first ring to truly blossom. Would dominate in a lesser conference (or autodraft league without sharks). Very nice winning percentage. Most like former Ivy League Champ and this year runner-up - Princeton.

Seed #9 - AdamKatz - Princeton.

Number 10 Seed - RoofingHorse - 1 Playoff Appearance, No rings.

The Rodney Dangerfield of Strat back to the 80s. If anyone was ever due a ring, it's roofinghorse. Been spanked so many times in veteran leagues he makes the 110 loss NY Mets team of the 60s look good. The one team I'd back if I was in Vegas playing for long odds. Look at the depth of experience. 1176 wins in Strat 80s. (OK, also has 1400+ losses). There is no padding of the record against creampuffs, roofinghorse plays against the ceme' de la creme'. Certainly, that experience has to count. Perenial doormat in a tough, tough conference thats shocks by winning its conference tournament to get the bid to the dance. No exact parallel in this year's NCAAs, so we will anoint roofinghorse with the Hokies of Virginia Tech.

Seed #10 - roofinghorse - Virginia Tech.

Number 11 seed - Kevin Matchstick - 2 Playoff Appearances, No Rings.

Most managers are looking at that winning percentage, stating nice, but look at the competition, and dismissing Matchstick completely. "Talk about a bottom feeder" or "Geez, if I played in the Atlantic Sun, not only would I be the conference champion but I'd at least rake in 20 wins" are indicative of comments Matchstick endures. We all start somewhere, and Matchstick did win his conference. Plus, any team with Orel Hershiser anchoring the staff will not endure many losing streaks in excess of 3 games. A dark horse based upon experience and the depth of the field, advancing to the second round would be a feather in Kevin's hat. Atlantic Sun Champion - the Bruins of ... Sorry Kevin, not UCLA but Belmont.

Seed #11 - Kevin Matchstick - Belmont.

Manager's records under btt80s rankings. It is easy to do, if they used the same name they originally signed up onto Sporting News site with. I registered for strat with sogcomando, and registered as 1st Command Commando with Sporting News, so many did not know that those two names were one and the same. It may be roofinghorse has a different name on the rankings... or I am blind.

I was blind, found him. Didn't expect to see in excess of 1100 wins, holy cow!
