The draft site clock turns off automatically every evening -- I think at 8 or 9 pm Eastern. So you don't need to turn it off manually. It also starts again automatically in the morning. Someone who's done more drafts can confirm the times.

I keep spying on you guys to see how it's going. When you're draft is done I'm going to ask someone to copy and paste the draft as I'm curious when everyone get's picked. Unfortunately, we never saved a copy of our original Decade league draft.

Well

If there's somethnig beyond "slow and steady," we're it, though the evenings definitely have a faster pace. We're basically in the 5th or 6th round (I just forgot which). I know I'm hung up on trying to put together a competitive team, while at the same time getting "my guys" for the long haul. It might be better to just go with a "future is now" strategy.

And yes, I DO like Mark Clear. :) If luck holds, he and Al Holland will eat innings while holding down the fort. Big Al had a 20W year for me out of the pen, pitched damn near 200 IP. The computer seems to like to use those R3's, and since I sure ain't gonna have a staff ace (yet), I may as well grab me some of those K guys.

Clock!

I understand that we didnt originally want to put the clock on because players could theoretically be on the team for 10 years but the reality is I hope no one I have yet to draft s still on my team 2 years from now anyway. Can I just concede 81 now and go straight to drafting 82?

Adam:

1981 will be a very ugly for all of us. I am using '81 as a means of getting a core of role players to choose from later. I am on my way to a 100 loss season with my dog food team.

I think every team in 1981 is going to go 62-100...

I think we all got 1-2 studs, then it's all Ivan DeJesus time...

you took Dejesus in the 5/6 round. Not a bad move- he wouldnt have been there in the 7th round but that means, in general, 19 players on your team will be worse than him.

I am playing in a hitters park and have drafted 3 hitters and 4 pitchers. I predict Schmidt has 40 HRs and 50 RBIs. I think my hitters will get more hits off of opposing pitcher cards than their owm.

We're all in the same boat. Some teams have to be over .500 in 1981 don't they? A few teams will be good but they don't know it yet.

I think I need some pepto...

I just couldn't imagine being in a pitcher's park with a 3e31 or 4 at SS, so I had to grab DeJesus. Plus when I get Yount next year, DeJesus will make a nice backup.

Rutkap where are you?
