I agree with your rankings for the most part, BC...but I was a little surprised where you ranked both my teams. The Mets pitching early in the decade is not pretty (other than Scott)....and their hitting stars (Straw, Hernandez, Carter, Dykstra, Mitchell and Hojo) don't arrive until later in the decade as well.
Now the Pirates' ranking really surprised me. Most of my '81 and '82 teams will comprise of Pirates. I really liked their early decade hitting with Madlock, Parker, Thompson, Easler and Pena being the core....but I thought their pitching was very solid as well with Perez, DeLeon('82), Rhoden and Candelaria backing Scott in the rotation. The late decade Pirates are admittedly weaker, but even they have nice pieces like Bonilla, Drabek, Van Slyke, LaValliere and Reuschel for extended periods. It won't matter much, as my Mets will be dominating the league by then anyway  :)
The teams I was debating on taking instead of the Mets in round 2 were Philly and Houston. I really liked the star power Philly had with Carlton and Schmidt (and even Sandberg for a cup of coffee) but didn't think they were as deep as the Mets. And Houston's pitching is strong but their hitters just didn't do much for me.
Looking forward to seeing other peoples' rankings. Picking where I did, I really didn't have any rankings. I just went with whatever was leftover for me. Turns out, I was pretty happy picking where I did :D
