Interest in an 80s invitational in the near future?

I would like to see something that gives a person a 2nd chance. Not 3-4 2nd chances, just one.

How bout a 64 team tourney that goes something like this:

1. 64 teams play two seasons (NOT at the same time)
2. After the first two season are completed, the top 32 teams move on (ties to be decided at a later date)
3. After we are at 32 teams, then its the top 24, and then top 12 to crown ONE CHAMPION?

Also, this works out for those that REALLY think they have a chance, they can just buy a 5 pack, and have the WHOLE TOUR covered credit wise.

Thoughts on this??

I think tere's still plenty of time to tweak how we run the tournament, and I agree it makes sense to hold off if there is an interface tweaking due out shortly. In fact, maybe we break the new interface in with the tournament, which makes Bernie look good due to all the credits immediately spent on the improved game and allows for pretty quick feedback on what is right and what is wrong with the new interface. Having said that, I don't want to wait six months for the tourney to begin, but a month is reasonable. Someone needs to find out when we can expect the enhanced 80s game.
2nd thing - Even though I suggested the tourney, and will provide some incentive ($50 check to the champion), I'd prefer not to have the tourney named after me as I am nowhere near an acknowledged master in this format. Let's keep beating the bushes for a few more players!

Someone said a tournament like this was run a few years ago. Sounds like fun.
