Yep. That's me! 3 games under the cut off line and 8 games behind the main pack. I never give up w/o a fight and generally do better when down for the count.[/quote:a968dc8399]

Worst to first. I now have a 2 game lead on the East. It pays to never give up folks.

After game 81, Hoboken was 32-49.

Since game 82 (game 129 played last night), Hoboken has gone 33-15, already surpassing the team's first half win total.

Thankfully, I should make it out of the first round with HAL's blessing.

Jablowmi...regarding seeding for the next round. If we seed the next round based on record instead of waiting for the champion of the league and runner-up etc., then we can start the new league 10 - 12 days earlier.

It would be nice to get the next round going sooner...

I think you're right, Jimmy C. For the final bracket, we should wait for the champs, but it's probably not necessary for the 2nd and 3rd.

I'm cool with either way, really-- especially since my team is looking like its the top-seed recordwise! :D Both ways have merit, for sure. If we wait for the champ, then it is possible for someone to use credits that they've earned (if they don't have a stockpile of them) for the second round instead of having to pay. just a thought.

Might be fun to have those who make the next round but not the playoffs wait and watch the combat of the playoffs as it develops - waiting to be able to see what the seedings are and all. Make the playoffs important to the seedings. Make the playoffs something all round two owners will follow (hopefully). Give the winners their due, I guess. Plus, the previous post about playoff credits is a good one, assuming those teams at the top don't already carry a stockpile. But mostly, I think the playoffs shouldn't be an afterthought in the early rounds. It should matter what happens I think, otherwise playoff teams need not even try to rig their rotations and lineups for victory, just mail it in and work on the next autodraft ranking...

When to Start Round 2 ?

Postby ccangerame » Tue Jun 06, 2006 9:26 pm

Both sides have good points, but I don't think anyone in the tourney is hurting for credits- jk- I do think with 4 different sets of playoffs going on - the delays could be longer than you would expect- although it seems every championship goes 7 games- My two cents is to start season 2 after season 1 is over right away- I have posted a message for my bracket 4 to weigh in with their thoughts as well - good luck to everyone still in the hunt

I thought this league was to be like the NCAA tourney. If so, we dont need to wait for the playoffs. You dont re-seed after each round. You just look for who advances. Seedings dont change in a tournament. You just re-rank the remaining 36 removing the teams that are elliminated. If we re-seed after each round, the initial seedings dont mean much. You could end up with the original top seeds all in the same division in round 2.

I agree with Panzer. The original seeding should carry through to all rounds. FYI.. I will be out of town until Monday and won't be able to field my round 2 team before then. Sorry, I know it's bad timing.

While Panzer raises a good point, about the nature of a tournament, the original rules state the following:

-------------------------------------
2nd ROUND

All playoff teams will advance automatically to the next round. If the field is 48, 5 additional teams in each bracket - determined by best record (tiebreakers below) - will also advance (giving us a field of 36).

Once we have a field of 36 (or if we start at 36), the four playoff teams will advance along with 4 additional teams in each bracket - determined by best record (giving us a field of 24). The field will be re-seeded after each round, not based on manager ratings, but on record in the previous bracket. Playoff teams will get higher "status."

-------------------------------------

That said, i think that we are obliged to follow what was stated in the original post. Maybe for next year's march madness, we can do it another way if it seems fit..
