This is all about the 80's. I've only played two 70's seasons so I don't really have any thoughts on that game.

The 80's could definitely use an overhaul in the salary department. We all know the players who are underpriced and the players who never get used are obviously overpriced.
[u:71aade9869][b:71aade9869]NEW PLAYERS[/b:71aade9869][/u:71aade9869]
I wouldn't want to add too many players especially if we're talking about adding twenty players with 4 or 5 great seasons with 8 BP-HR's would not be an improvement. Definitely more pitchers than hitters and more doubles hitters than BP-HR hitters. It's too hard to be competitive with a non-slugging team. Let's admit it: you fill a league with vets and ten out of the twelve teams will play in a power park. And the two teams that choose Oakland are hoping like heck that not more than one other team decided to try small ball. Some of this could be addressed with a new salary structure.
[u:71aade9869][b:71aade9869]TRADING[/b:71aade9869][/u:71aade9869]
TomP's idea of randomizing the mystery card sounds good to me. If you make the randomizing an option when the trade is offered that would take care of Voovits' point regarding revealed players not being traded. Trading a very good season player (unrandomized) for a randomized 80% chance of getting an outstanding season, or, swapping two studs with their dud years... I would like to see that happen instead of having your stud with the one dud season get dropped and sit in the free agent pool all season long.
Tell me if this sounds familiar: you're 40 games into a season and your first and second draft pick reveal bad seasons. Now you're looking at the free agent pool but you know there is nobody available because you've been watching the injuries and there sit Brett, Schmidt, Dale Murphy, etc... all with their bad seasons. It's virtually impossible to be competitive in this situation. This idea fixes the possibility of a draft deciding the league from the onset by giving you another option instead of your season relying on a bunch of 20% players.
I'm trying to come up with a situation where this feature makes the game worse (or can be exploited) and off the top of my head, I can't think of one. I'd really like to hear more managers' thoughts on this.

- I'd love to be able to get splits of free agents and players who have played on more than one team. :)
- Track HBP in the splits. Intentional walks too.
- Heck, let's just make it easy on all of us and allow us to color code players' seasons on the player's cards. Highlight a couple of seasons yellow if you think it's a possibility, red if you eliminate a season, and green if you know for sure. Hey, if we didn't spend so much time keeping notes, we might play more teams at the same time. :D
- While we're at it, how about letting us tag certain players who get dropped. I want a message with a link to my team sent directly to my phone so I know the moment a newbie has dropped a revealed stud season!!!
