March Madness Bracket 4- The curse of Don Mattingly

Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

Well, Clemens started out well for me (7 shutout innings), but now i've got a big hole in my lineup. Dilone (I have his best card) is down for 15 games and trading Murphy left me with little in the way of back-up outfielders. Hopefully Inky can hit a few dingers and catch a ball or two while waiting for Dilone to get healthy. I wish I could just stick Hojo or Harrah (or Phelps  ) out in LF!

Hoping for the statistical rebound...

Wow. The Irish are ice cold. I've pulled out my pointy toed boot and started kickin' some hind tail today. We need to stop the bleeding here soon.

Well, Henke has now blown 2 out 3 saves. I cannot find a closer! Ugh!

I may be desperate for a closer, but I am only 3 games behind you and I am not giving up just yet. :P

Whether I advance to the next round or not I enjoy the competition and would expect nothing less from you Mike! Bring it on and may the best 9 teams advance. 8)

Time to throw in the towel?

I may be looking for Mitch Williams soon. After Henke blew 4 of 5 save opportunities, I decided to give Pena a whirl. He is 1-3 giving up three runs in both of his blown save opportunities.

Stop the madness..................................

The only reason my team is 2 games above 500 is my closer, the Quiz. 17-3 with 20 saves. We've had lots and lots of comeback victories after Quiz comes in. He's also blown a fair share of saves only to be bailed out by my hitters.

the curse continues

SIM SLU 129 557 100 201 38 5 31 118 21 46 2 1 .361 .614 .381 .995
Mattingly's numbers are sick - 614 slugging and 118 rbis - the curse continues

I agree the Quiz is the Cy so far, but can't Strat show Ray Burris some love- he has been lights out

Actually- maybe the curse is backwards= team that didn't get Mattingly in first and team that did not in first-

Maybe Mattingly has become the nickname the ARod's former teammates give him once he is gone- "the Cooler"
Every team he goes to - he cools off from winning
