there were only 3 "rookies" new to the 88 season and they were picked up but you can pick up anybody that has an 88 season on their card or a player that his season began before 88 and has a season beyond the 88 season.

example: jeff russell, began in 86 with years thru 92, and even though he doesn,t have an 88 season on his card, the time frame allows him in....

hope this helps.

There were only 3 1988 rookies and they were drafted by 'lower tier' teams (ie., teams that finished in the bottom 4).

No one not on IM's roster at the end of '87 would be his property -- you can only claim those that are on your roster, or were on your roster at the end of the season.

You will have to check and see if any of IM's/your players are retired now (if the last year on their card is 1987).

All 0.75 players are free agents available to any team at anytime. Only those priced at 0.75 though -- other sub $1 million players fall under the same rules of eligibility as other players.

There are also players who are eligible for 1988 that were on no one's roster at the end of 87. These players are also fair game for anyone to claim in the autodraft, waiver draft or during the season. It will be tricky for you to figure out who these players are. I will have to direct you to a website that will allow you to see the free agents as of the end of 87 later (no time now). Or, if someone else can direct you to the "Stratoberce" site in the meantime that would be great.

Don't hesitate to ask js. We'd much rather you got a full understanding of the rules now, than have you operating under any misconceptions later.

If you cut someone, is he fair game for the other players, or does he remain property of your team?

Anyone who can direct me to roster info/available players would be appreciated :D !

If he's not on your roster then he's fair game for anyone, as long as he's an eligible player. No players are reserved that aren't on a roster.

I will try to direct you to finding the FA info, now. Just have to find the link.

Search the 87 FA list for eligible players

Postby BC Manager » Thu Sep 28, 2006 3:44 pm

Here's how to see the FA list from the end of the 87 season:

- go to: http://strato.berce.us

- click on baseball 80s and choose "release/pickup"

- enter ID number 76487 and search away

* The key to making this work is using the menu at the top to search and not the menu inside the window -- hopefully that makes sense

Jsamia, If you follow the link to your team, and then use the pulldown for the other teams in the league, you can see all the other rosters at the end of the '87 season. All players who are not on an '87 roster, but who have their last card as '87 or later are eligable, along with all .75 cent cards.

Your team is in pretty good shape, with Gwynn, Guerro, good SP's. You have a good core.

If you go back a few pages in this thread, BC posted how to see the final FA pool. It includes all the FA's, including the ones that are not eligable for '88. What I found a little easier was to go through all the transactions, and look at the players who were dropped during the '87 season and see which ones are still eligable for '88. That set is in the same post.

Thanks for stepping in. This is a fun league and a great group of managers, we have a good time. Right Mango Boy!

And lastly, here's the master list of 80's players that shows the first and last year on the card. You can cross-reference the 88-eligible players with the FA's from the above link.

Stadium

jsamia-

Your team has played in Oakland Coliseum all decade. You could changed parks if you want, but you'd have to choose among the parks not already used. Let me know and I can list all the one's that are unavailable.

What other stadiums are available?

To the extent I do not draft someone from end of '87, I lose them right?

I can be loaded by tomorrow. Is the west ready?
