I hope you are right on Bando because the bad Nelson's RHB side card looks much like Ben Howard's 2003 :shock:

I figured after awhile - you'd conclude you had Lonnie Smith's bad card.

why did you drop Zisk?

I was going to wait in dropping smith, downgrading him to .75 player to use more cash elsewhere but I notice Zisk out there and he hit 2 HRs for you in your pitcher park.

Richie Zisk became too expensive when I wanted to hire Greenwell (drop Daniels), Boone (drop Wynegar), and another $.75m scrub for LHP duties.

Against, LHPs -> Zisk's OBP vs. LHPs .200 (.200 BA) :shock: compared to Butler's, Smith's, Trillo's, and Schmidt / Evans.

Richie's overall performance boost comes from 2 for 4 vs. RHPs.

Notwithstanding my desire to hire Greenwall, I lost him :( but found Singleton. Of course, I would have had to drop Zisk to get Singleton given the pricing structure.

I couldn't see keeping Richie on the bench when all the LHSPs in this division are primarily reserve types. If anything, I'll live with Butler, Carew, and Boggs trying to eek out a hit or two.

If you had asked me nine (9) games ago, I probably would have strongly considered it. Rod had struggled mightly up until 3 series ago.

On whole, I'm surprised by my cards and performance to date. I have studied the results (I'm loving the 80s format - it keeps the $25 spent feeling going all through the season) and have a good feeling for most of my batters' cards (good or bad).

However, I am surprised by their outcomes. I know by Game 42, the league's pitching will change again and some of my over - and under-performaning cards will swing again.


What is getting my goat is my pitching.

My hitting is getting better and actually has been plagued by bad HAL logic (15 CSs :shock: with Boggs and a few other slugs getting the running bug) in getting more runs scored.

However, the starting pitching has suffered much. I had high hopes from Bryn and Reuschel but I trust I drew their heavy R tilted cards.

Forsch bad call on my part. I've never seen this guy do well but I had to try him -

Candy - I loved him when he pitched for the Indians. I see his card on the Free Agent roles all the time. He can't be that bad.

Beyond those - I hope to get the SPs under better cards and see where the game goes from here.

I have three more credits for this format and will play again.

yeah, pitching can be fustrating.

There is lots of good luck and bad luck in all the cards. For me I have great luck with Dawson and really bad luck with Hrbek. Hrbek, does not have a really bad year all 5 years are .829 OPS or higher and even that years has good power so its simply bad luck he has .305 SLG. This is the main reason I havent dropped him, I know he is going to get back to his averages at some point, I just have to wait it out.

I can appreciate the pitching construct with many of the batters being faced using their top cards.

What gets me is when Reuschel:

4 outings and can't get beyond the 4th inning any outing

ERA / WHIP twice has high as the highest WHIP on the team.[/list:u:c8c0520bc7]

Why he gets dropped, I check his performance as compared to his peers against common line-ups.

I would have rode out my SPs for another 3 starts each but the free agent pool had been picked over hard already.

Otherwise, I see another sea change around Game 42 and then normalcy.

If I can nail down 2 consistent pitchers (Hoyt is hard luck loser so far) and my hitting stays on the improving side, I can have a break even season for my first time out.
