[quote:e74fccda24]Players are hitting the free agent / unemployment listing at the cyclical rate.

Anyone else noticed the early churn? [/quote:e74fccda24]

Hey Semper, it has been VERY busy with dumps to the FA wire. I still have the same 23 players i started the season with. My patience is running VERY VERY thin with Gullickson, however.

Clemens pisses me off -- but I know if I drop him he'll become Cy Young again for another team, so I'll give him 10-12 starts. Gullickson won't have that luxury.

Concepcion ---- if there was a better option out there, he'd be gone too ... but who stops the ball up the middle?

So, let the players hit the rail !!!

If my math is wrong, I believe I haven't dropped one player yet.

Of course, I'd like to drop a few but I'm afraid they will hire a lawyer and sue me for something.

With my team's budget, I better keep a few around just to make everyone walk around with eyes behind their head.

We haven't played more than 18 games so far, and we have had more than 100 transactions.

I can't wait for the first transaction penalty change - I'm sure every player possible will be used once by Game 41.

I agree, there have been a large number of moves. However, re: the "general" rule, I think it clearly applies to the stud hitters/pitchers more so than others who clearly have 2 or 3 bad seasons on their cards. If Schmidt starts slow, you obviously hold him b/c you have an 80% chance to have a good card and you have no way of really knowing (absent injury or other indicia) before 100-150 ABs. Re: the lesser guys, you are looking at a 60% chance (for some) and, more importantly, they're more easily replaced with guys on the waiver wire.

I think I do tend to make more moves than most and have certainly done so here, where I had a bad autodraft and I'm mixing and matching. I also have a ton of $ on some guys that aren't hitting - Brett, Will Clark, etc., so more moves will follow. In fact, take a look right now.........minor SP move!

I was so tempted by simply stating that I hadn't yet made a move, that I made two (even though they were only .75ers, moves nonetheless).

Jablow, you certainly do mix 'em up. Don't even think about offering Rickey to me --- you poisoned my Anti-Panzer team with his cancerous behavior !! Good luck with Brett !!

I think pitching is going to be the key in this leaue. The two best teams in the league have dominant pitching. I don't think I can win unless I can improve my pitching, but it is not easy to do. The top quality pitching is gone, and only gambles are left.

Henderson and Brett will prove to be a disaster for Jablowmi, especially if he keeps them after game 81. My analysis kept me from picking up Brett because I am fairly confident it is his worse card. One thing I know for sure, it is not his top two or three cards. $9 million bucks for mediocrity doesn't seem like good use of money. I would rather have Fernandez.

The problem with Henderson is that he is great to compliment a good offense, but not to carry it. Too much of the offense is concentrated on two players (over $16 million) who I don't think can deliver the RBI's necessary to win, espcially in Royals Stadium.

It will be all a moot point, however, if Semper's hitting comes alive. His pitching has been carrying him so far into a first place position, but his hitting has grossly underperformed.

Moody,

My hitting is steriod free.

Otherwise, I know I drew one of two non-HR years from Kirby so it will be interesting to see year-1 show up in a LHSP division.

As for Raines and Gywnn, I suspect Tim and Tony spent too much time at the San Diego Zoo this off season. I have Raines on another team and he is hitting about the same - poor suck.

Gywnn is a mystery but he started the same on my only other team with him and he came around after everyone dumped their SPs.

Hargrove (Human Rain Delay) will get me a few free runs with his BB abilities.

DeCinces - I know what card I have and it makes me want to keep him but we'll see. He has been an error issue so far but that ain't too bad. I had Boggs one season and he had more than 30 errors at the 3/4 mark.

When Tony Pena hasn't tossed out one runner with 7 pitchers have negative hold ratings.

Heck, Fernando has allowed 7 SBs and he is sporting a (-1).

You know HAL is on crack under those odds.

Well, I would have held on to my initial players, but:

1) Bob Boone just would not be put into the lineup over HAL's fixation on .75 Berryhill, so I dumped Boone for Lavalliere - and he promptly got 2 HR in his first series.

2) Bell was revealed by injury to have his next to worst year, so I went for Wallach over him, and HE got a pair of HR in his first series.

3) Larkin just blows this year - HAL took him out in the 9th when my opponent did a pitching change, in favor of Rudy Law. Too much $$ if he's not a go to guy, so I'll match his defense with Bowa (hoping for a decent offensive year from him), and Pair MacRae as DH against LHP with Bonilla against RHP. Seemed to be a good idea...

Pitching is more elusive as far as making determinations of card years. We will see. But the moves I've made have all been done with good ideas of what I was dealing with so far. Go ahead and sign Larkin if you think I dumped him prematurely...

I haven't gotten rid of any players yet, but I am always on the lookout for some talent. I could use Rickey or Clemens, you can never have enough pitching.
