we have a poison pill for the vets and who gets to choose will be based on the Pick 3 numbers for any state after we know who is in the league. The Pick 3 will be in the order of highest three digits down to the lowest and the vets will be paired with the highest 3 digits matched with the lowest 3 digits and so forth. As for the other rules, such as "raid" or vet must drop a player every salary change, etc. is still up in the air.

Currently, we have 6 players (including you and unless the two original newbies have not abandoned ship) which means we have two division almost full and a third yet touched.

Sorry guys, while your intentions are good in trying to help fill this league, I don't think I can be part of a league where managers have restrictions. I am much to proud. Though fairly new, 2 completed seasons and one current, I would enjoy being part of one of your vet leagues. Not crazy about theme leagues however with my lack of 80's experience

Thinking...

Postby BRIANCHIVIS » Wed Oct 19, 2005 1:44 am

I am thinking it would be really helpful if the league was set up as kind of a working tutorial. You could post questions on strategy to all the managers in the league, and the pros would answer.

I would think the questions should be posted to the entire league for two reasons. First, everyone will see the strategy. There would be no under the table qurstions. Second, everyone would benefit from seeing "why" you would want to do something. Learning would be maximized even if a question did not apply to your team at that time. You could always save the info and refer back to it as you go along. In a sense, it would be like the pros are running a school.

What do you think?

People don't drop!!!

Postby BRIANCHIVIS » Wed Oct 19, 2005 1:56 am

OK, in response to people dropping because of restrictions put on the pros, why not let them run their teams with one stipulation; they have to post why they make a move, or drop/add a player. That way we would be "competing" in the true sense of the word, and learning at the same time. If a trade is asked for, they would have to post the reason for wanting the trade, what they are trying to accomplish.

In this way, we would not have to worry about restrictions, and we would be competing. We would at the same time garner accumulated knowledge as they make decisions throughout the season.

Now it would be kind of time intensive for the Pro's though. How do you guys feel about this?

ps. Put me in the Central with Tiger Stadium please.

What a Metamorphosis

Postby rookssa1958 » Wed Oct 19, 2005 5:17 am

Okay, so this league is twisting and changing shapes.

I am no sykes or Yountfan, but this does seem quite fun.

The newer guys should not quit because Vets (especially Sykes) get restricted, the restrictions keep the interest level high, and help uncover jewels. Sykes loves to experiment anyway, so putting restrictions on him would be like forcing Einstein to sit in a room with nothing but a black board and some chalk.

YF has been known to win a game or 2 as well.

I don't mind getting in the Central with Sykes, YF and Chief, I can still learn from those guys myself.

For those just listed by name, please put in your team name and stadium. I will be away from the internet for the entire morning, you can discuss amongst yourselves any ideas that came up, not sur eif I like the idea of this being a tutorial league per se (but we can possibly work on that), but the rest of the ideas so far are viable.

Thanks
