Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

If you really want to see who the top players in the 80s value, try an auction league on Penn's site. You get a budget, say of $160 mil, to bid on players, highest bidder gets the player. You'll see Guerrero, Sandberg, Brett and Boggs go for $30 mil each, and even Ozzie gets around $15 mil. You still have to be able to put together a legit team of $80 mil or less when it's done. This type of draft usually takes about a week or so to run, and as long as you check in at least once a day, everything should be smoooth. Once someone has not bid on a player for 24 hours, the player is "sold" to whoever made the last bid. You also bid on the stadium, so there are unique stadiums.

OK...since the first round is not on the clock, then it should help ease us first-timers into it. When the second round 2-hour clock starts, does that mean we may have our pick between 2-4am (as an example)? If so...what happens if the proxy's you set are taken? Does the draft skip your pick and you get (YIKES) nobody?

Also, I couldn't access Penns site from my POS work computer. Everytime I tried I got knocked off the net. If it's my turn to pick during work hours I could get on a real computer at lunch hour. Is there an "OK...lets pause and give Jimmy C a chance to get on a computer a more powerful than a calculator" option (you know...because we are doing this for fun)?

Just wondering...

I'm Back

Postby YountFan » Fri Dec 09, 2005 8:19 pm

Sorry for the delay. I was traveling back from Brazil and my flight from Newark to Detroit was cancelled, but I'm home now. I'll be away tomorrow in Kalamazoo where my son is gard. from Western. Any one of you guys need to hire a cartoonist/moviemaker?

I'll check tomorrow as much as I can. Is there a clock on the weekend?

Jimmy C, I suspect that Penn will pause the draft at some point (say, 10:00) and then start up again in the morning.
