Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

Postby LMBombers » Fri Dec 22, 2006 2:42 pm

What I did was go to the 70's player list and searched by team for my team the LA Dodgers. This gives you every player in the game that has at least 1 card for that team. I printed out that list and highlighted all the players that had the most ABs or IPs with LA.

The remaining players that had the most ABs or IPs with a team selected for this league I just scratched off the list. If there are players remaining that had the most IPs or ABs with teams NOT selected in this league and then your team then he is your property.

I probably didn't explain this very well but there it is. :)

LM,
That's actually a pretty clear explanation. I did the same thing by highlighting my players on printouts. That's the best way to keep it all straight.

I imagine there's little chance of completing the draft and getting the league set tonight. That's actually probably good. I can spend a little time on my 80's teams that I've been ignoring.

This may seem like a strange pick but I didn't have a SS (Bill Russell 3e33, are you kidding me?) and I also didn't have much cap room to spare. Even if I wanted to go large at SS, the most expensive 2 rated free agent SS was Yount at 2.92. I just didn't have the extra MIL to go for Yount over Patek. I couldn't really consider a 3 at SS either since I am already going with a 3 (Lopes) at 2B.

Putting my roster together I was having issues with not having many lower priced guys I could use. Also I have only 5 available RPs so I pretty much have to go with those guys which cost a little more than I would like for a bullpen but what can you do? These are the difficulties when using a limited player pool. I'm not complaining. I do enjoy the strategy that goes into a league like this. :D

Anyway I'll be using that great 70's Dodger infield:

1B - Garvey
2B - Lopes
SS - Freddie Patek
3B - Cey

You can't take Gene Alley. He's a Pirate, so he's on bigdinkent's roster. There are some other good D shortstops left (Brinkman, Yount, Duffy, Patek). You might consider one of those instead.
