Mood,

I hear you brother.

I saw Guidry on the unemployment line and thought "damn, I'd love to own the Gator".

However, the light went off in my head when I went through your box scores and concluded you didn't drop Ron because you needed money to buy some $.75m RP.

You'd be reasonable to assume that getting Guidry and Mattingly that you'd also get a sure thing.

As for legends and top players, I'm neither but I can still have fun "poking the bear" some.

Have fun and post.

You paid your $25 so have at it.

Desert Heat's free agent replacement pick of [b:80c5910984]Cliff Johnson's[/b:80c5910984] 9 HRs and 19 RBIs over the last 18 games!

At this rate, Cliff will be the league leader in HRs and RBIs.

Of course, Cliff never hit more than 20 HRs (140 games or more) in any TSN carded season. :?

[b:80c5910984]We are coming up to 42 game mark and how did you do?[/b:80c5910984]

I took a chance on Hernandez because his OBP was near .400 and even his worst year is ok. I dropped Mattingly and figured he'd never get picked up because he is quite obviouslyin his one horrible year.

We'll see if I was correct. Considering I have a majority of guys in their worst years I could use a little luck. My division sucks (as in they are winning too many games).

Mood,

No complaints about re-employment of [b:a2e4a7d0c7]Hernandez [/b:a2e4a7d0c7] it just seemed surreal as you had recently dropped [b:a2e4a7d0c7]Mattingly[/b:a2e4a7d0c7].

What Did You Get?

Postby Semper Gumby » Mon Feb 20, 2006 10:16 am

I'm wondering what year will appear on the following cards:

[list:06b17be67d][b:06b17be67d]Dave Parker[/b:06b17be67d] (dropped when he could just hit doubles off of LHPs)

[b:06b17be67d]Don Mattingly [/b:06b17be67d](dropped when he couldn't hit at all)

[b:06b17be67d]Keith Hernandez[/b:06b17be67d] (dropped when he couldn't hit at all either)

[b:06b17be67d]Bret Saberhagen[/b:06b17be67d] (dropped when he couldn't beat even a little league team)[/list:u:06b17be67d]

Having dropped almost [b:06b17be67d]1/4[/b:06b17be67d] of my salary cap and [b:06b17be67d]~ 1/3[/b:06b17be67d] of my drafted players [Boggs[/color:06b17be67d] ($6.08m); Smith[/color:06b17be67d] ($5.98m); [b:06b17be67d]Daniels[/b:06b17be67d] ($5.2m); [b:06b17be67d]Reuschel[/b:06b17be67d] ($5.21m), [b:06b17be67d]Wynegar[/b:06b17be67d] ($2.6m)], I am always tempted to hire another cast-away especially when his results appeared skewed.

As for [b:06b17be67d]Parker[/b:06b17be67d], I looked twice at him and how he performed relative to his divisional peers and I couldn't do more than  think three times. I suspect he'll reveal himself sooner than later but him hitting just LHPs struck me as odd yet tempting.

[b:06b17be67d]Hernandez[/b:06b17be67d]'s / [b:06b17be67d]Mattingly[/b:06b17be67d]'s results looked just like Bogg's and I quickly gave up the idea of taking a flier on these cards. Although I expect both to play better as the season goes along, it is ironic how both players just switched teams.

On my own team, I see [b:06b17be67d]Singleton[/b:06b17be67d] playing up to his 5th year card and [b:06b17be67d]Chris Bando[/b:06b17be67d]'s injury showing I didn't get his .388 OBP year. :(

Otherwise, [b:06b17be67d]Saberhagen[/b:06b17be67d]'s card isn't his best year but he does come with his LHB tilt which works well for my division.

To that end, the e-[b:06b17be67d]LEMON[/b:06b17be67d][/color:06b17be67d]-ators are living up to their name.

As a life-long Cardinal fan I should've known better than to pick-up Hernandez. He did more drugs than any living human then blamed it on everyone else. Plus the jerk spit on Seinfeld. Just wish Rick Ownby had won a Cy Young

Bando's good year and other Seinfeld facts

Postby ccangerame » Mon Feb 20, 2006 10:10 pm

I have never picked up Hernandez on any of my teams but I believe it was Roger Mcdowell who split on Newman in that classic Seinfeld.

As for Mr. Gumby, for all of your bad luck with cards, you still the manager of the first quarter for getting that team into first place, lapping my struggling squad. Guidry is living up to his 4r year so it could be decision time soon, I have so many holes in my lineup it is like swiss cheese

And to answer your Bando question- I didn't drop him on accident- no one was sadder than me to learn that his 888 year would not be mine. I have also had the joy of Gamble's worst card as well. All of this and one of the all time champs in our division- it is going to be a rough year in the west
