I vote for auto-draft also. I don't have time to monitor the boards constantly for a draft (if penn's site was working I would have set a lot of proxies).
Hopefully there will be a live draft option in the future.

Well, I didn't expect this turn of events. I was thinking about the live draft and which night to use for the draft order.

I didn't know Penn but hope whatever issues there are get resolved. He added a lot to the community and will be missed.

Where that leaves us: We have a few choices which I'll summarize:

Live draft using the boards: 3 or 5 rounds? Upside-the fun/challenge of drafting the guys who will likely be the stars of our teams. Downside: Will likely be a slow process.

Autodraft: Upside: Relatively quick, easy process. We might be able to start play on Monday the 27th if we can get everyone loaded by tomorrow night?? That might be too aggressive of a timeframe.
Downside: Less control over players...

One point to consider-if we can't start this coming Monday, then a partial draft using the boards makes a whole lot more sense. We would have a few days to work through the process and we could target a league start date of April 3rd.

I prefer the 3 to 5 round draft using the boards and then autodraft the rest. However, I also understand that is an additional time committment which wasn't initially bargained for so if that's an issue for anyone, we will just autodraft.

I will begin to tally the votes and we will have a decision some time tomorrow. I'm going to be on a plane for a good part of the day but hope to be back on line in the early evening.

I'm open to a three-to-five round Live Draft followed by an Auto Draft that would give us a start date that coincides with the beginning of Major League baseball.

5 Round draft via the boards sounds good. I always worry about the top 5 on my draft card anyways. That sounds like a good balance.

Why an odd number? That gives the guys in the top of the draft order the advantage of having better picks in 3 out of 5 rounds, definitely should be an even number of rounds to make it fair to the guy with the 12th pick.

looks like a 3-5 rd live draft will win.
i have no problem with that......but i work in 24 hr stretches with no comp. access....i don't want to grind draft to a halt
