How?
I guessed. :D
Really.
1987?
Actually, my theory is that Dawson [b:e4cecc6fc1]isn't sporting his 1984[/b:e4cecc6fc1] season card here.
Why 1984?
[b:e4cecc6fc1]No Slugging[/b:e4cecc6fc1]
I grant his lack of power is probably enough to jump on the 1984 bandwagon but closer inspection shows some leaks here.
[list:e4cecc6fc1]Dawson only [b:e4cecc6fc1]played six (6) games [/b:e4cecc6fc1]in the Kingdome [b:e4cecc6fc1]AND[/b:e4cecc6fc1]played nine (9) games in sub-neutral (County / Veterans) or pitcher parks (Busch)
Faced three (3) of top 5 pitching teams [b:e4cecc6fc1]AND[/b:e4cecc6fc1] faced Clemens twice (note: [u:e4cecc6fc1]the Rocket has yet to yielded a HR to RHB[/u:e4cecc6fc1])!
Copycats, as a team, only had [b:e4cecc6fc1]18 HRs @ game 16 [/b:e4cecc6fc1](hit 16 HRs in 9 games and all at home)
For you, Dawson didn't hit any HRs versus LHPs but hit two (2) vs. RHPs[/list:u:e4cecc6fc1]
Hmmm ... looking at the cards - Dawson's 1984 season provides more HR chances verus LHPs (4.8 / 7) than RHPs (2.4 / 3) where as his 1982 season (1.8 / 3 - 4.5 / 7) is almost the inverse of the 1984 season.
Yet, his only two (2) HRs came off of RHP.
Okay ... he clearly didn't show glimpses of his 1987 season power but can you blame him when he faced Clemens x2, Soto, and Orel all in span of 18 games?
[b:e4cecc6fc1]No OBP[/b:e4cecc6fc1]
The Hawk has three (3) walks this season. However, 1984 ain't his walk-less season.
The Hawk has never been known for his OBP but his 1984 season card does provide for [b:e4cecc6fc1]14 / 6[/b:e4cecc6fc1] chances for walks. Overall - I believe this his high walk total of any season card. As far as I looked, his only walk under your watch came against RH Doug Bair.
Which cards offer the lowest walks? [b:e4cecc6fc1]1982[/b:e4cecc6fc1] and [b:e4cecc6fc1]1987[/b:e4cecc6fc1].
[b:e4cecc6fc1]Too Many Ks[/b:e4cecc6fc1]
Yes, he strikes out a lot here.
Ironically, 1984 ain't his big K year (11 / 14) - [b:e4cecc6fc1]1982[/b:e4cecc6fc1] (16 / 15) and [b:e4cecc6fc1]1987[/b:e4cecc6fc1] (15 / 15) hold that distinction.
[b:e4cecc6fc1]PERHAPS, you are right and we are working with his 1984 season.[/b:e4cecc6fc1] For now, he is an injury chance away from being a dud or a stud.
Notwithstanding the gamble on Dawson not sporting his 1984 card, I felt his worse card still gave me an overall upgrade defense-wise pushing his 1e(-4)7 into CF and sliding Gwynn's 1e(-2)7 into RF.
[b:e4cecc6fc1]Now Rice is a different story[/b:e4cecc6fc1] - :?:
My Irish side tells me he is working with a very underperforming [b:e4cecc6fc1]1982 / 1983[/b:e4cecc6fc1] season given HALs two (2) IBBs and some other signs.
Of course, I am going to play all the cards here and see where the Texas hold 'em leaves me
Rich or BROKE - you can't ever out guess HAL cause he knows more than we do!
