2 on top of the 8th and hal pinch hits for Bobby Grich with Tony Scott..what the heck is up with that??????????????

i just lost game 5 in 1st round of playoffs because HAL allowed Ed Lynch to give up 4 runs in the top of the 9th

You might want to pin that "blame tail" on TSN for never (as of yet) implementing a fix for the piss-poor HAL pitching logic.

When you recognize that the pitching settings are watered down (conservative means -> normal on the CD ROM version), you'll see why pitching can be a crap shoot.

Otherwise, I'm sure HAL is sorry for playing a part in your misery. :wink:

I think HAL is trying to tell you something about Bobby Grich. You probably have a poor Grich card. If a lefty was pitching - you might have Grich's 7R year. I had Tim Laudner PH for Rickey Henderson against a lefty. It turned out that I had Rickey's 82 card (not that great against lefties) and a pretty good Laudner card.

Can someone expound on this? I've seen reference to the "srewed up" pitching settings before, but haven't ever been able to figure out exactly what the issue is. Thanks.

TSN's acknowledgement on the pitching settings MAY have been on the main forum.

However, I received a personal note from Bernie about it. Of course, he also promised to fix this issue which has promise has long since expired.

In sum, for the manager strategy for pitching

Conservative = Normal (CD-ROM version)

Normal = Aggressive

Aggressive = Very Aggressive (or an ilk of it)


And, these settings aren't necessarily reflective on how HAL monkeys with the relief (all relief) decisions but (if my recall serves me well) on relieving the starters.

In the 2006 season, I had four of top ten pitchers in PETCO (dead era ball like park) and HAL loved to relieve Pedro and company despite having every setting possible set for NEVER RELIEVE unless ARM FALLS OFF.

How can you remove a starter in the 8th inning when he has 12 Ks and less than 3 hits +BBs issued?
