Someone tell me which Lee Guetterman card I have....

...based on this injury:

BTW, this isn't a test or a trick question; I really have no idea and would like to know.

Pop out obviously doesn't appear on any of Guetterman's cards.

So, it either has to be:

1. A failed H&R play. Don't have the H&R charts with me, so I don't know if that's a possible explanation.

2. A misprint on the boxscore. Maybe the flyout is listed as a popout?

It's probably a failed H&R, but without the charts, I'm not completely sure.

Option 3--it could be '89. The split didn't fall on a bp single, so the result was a BP effect popup. This is probably the explanation...don't have the rulebook with me to confirm.

I always thought a failed BP single was always a lineout to the SS/2B (depending on RH/LH batter). In fact, I'm pretty sure of it.

You may be right about the lineout. Teaches me to type w/o the rulebook.

Maybe jsamia retreated too soon. I'll have to look at the possibilities for a failed H&R, though.

This seems like the likliest possibilty since Greenwell has a B hit & run rating and according to the H&R charts, a popout to 2B can occur on a B rated hitter.

HOWEVER, for an injury to pitcher to occur, 6-12 must be rolled. Thus, the result of the H&R chart is NOT used and either the result of the pitcher's card is used or the H&R adjustments are used. Regardless of which it is, NEITHER have a popout 2B as a result.

So it leaves us back at square one :(

I'm pretty sure a reliever with 100 or more innings can only get a max of 3 games on the DL...so at least that rules out '87 and '89 due to injury duration.

Well,... No baserunners = no H&R. So....

According to my Super Advanced SAC/Squeeze chart,
A "D" bunter on a roll of 6/12 pops out to 1B into a DP.
Since no one is on base, the result is a popout.

Greenwell's only chance to reach safely is snake eyes and then rolling 14 or lower on the 20 sided die (match or beat his running rating). That's 70% of a 1 in 36 chance.

This is asinine. Taking Greenwells worst year against lefties and Guettermans best year agains lefties, Greenwell's chances are still way better if he swings away.

Since simple math is beyond HAL's grasp, all bets are off as to what year Guetterman (or Greenwell) has.

BTW, I have the entire Super Advanced rules on an excel workbook.

Interested?
