Hey, Hey,
I just past the point of having 500 more wins than loses:

I'm way behind some of the top guys. I think abnerdoubleday holds the current all-time record with more than 1,200 wins over .500. Still, it's nice to get here.... Now I just have to avoid losing tonight and slipping back over the line.

That's pretty good. I know I am 2378-2062 in 2006 and I have a relatively high winning %(about .535 last I looked). At one point I was 350 games over .500 and was at a .540+ winning percentage, which was easily one of the top five amongst guys who played a lot . Your % must be through the roof. Are you that good or is the competition easier over here in the 80's?

Congratulations Outta...it's a super achievement and I'm sure that you'll be increasing in the win column at a faster rate than the losing column.

I'm at 3468-2901 (+567) currently, though I'll be lucky to still be on the +500 side after the last round of the March Madness Tourney...

Thanks, guys! I don't think the competition is any easier in the '80s. At least I haven't noticed it being easier. There are a lot of guys here who play the game over and over and get pretty darn good at it. My w/l pct. is currently .560, which has been pretty hard to sustain.

I just looked at the 80's manager ratings, as judging by you guys, I thought the %'s were through the roof. The best 80's winning %'s are noticably higher than those in the 2006 game. I know there are a lot more events over there, which wears on your winning %, as they mostly draw the experienced players. There is only one guy in 2006 with a .550+ winning % and maybe a half dozen over .540, with few if any of those having more than 20 teams. Once you get up to 30+ teams in 2006, it's tough to find a .540 winning %. I don't know what it means except that the top 80's players are better than me by more than the top 2006 players are better than me.

...and now my 500 win margin is down to 495. I sure put the hex on myself...
ClanMan, I could use a bit more help here. :D And I'm hoping the hex is temporary.

Anyway, getting on to durantjerry's observation, I think maybe the reason the top 80's managers have higher w/l pcts. is that they can have more influence over results by making mid-season adjustments based on their sorting out of their good from their bad cards and then finding the right replacements for the weaker cards.

The managers in other games have only their initial team design to separate them from the pack. The 80's managers have initial team design plus in season adjustment. In season adjustment is definitely an art, and while approaches to it differ, those who can do it well can rack up pretty good results. This is one reason I like BTT80's. There's more for the manager to do, and it's fun not only to work on your own team but to watch how the other guys handle their teams. And if somebody makes an ill-considered drop, a strong manager knows how to pounce.

Now, how Panzer ace does what he does--that nobody really knows. :?: :?:
