Pitchers Hitting Cards?

Are they now functional? I recall several seasons ago in ATG I a brilliant draft strategy led me to get 4 great hitting starters, only to find out that the pitchers actual hitting cards were not used. I never tried to draft a good hitting pitcher again but last night Rick Wise hit a HR for so I wondered if they were being used now? Could make Ken Brett more useful!!
