I'm curious, I've never used him in 20+ teams. Have first pick and he's available, think he's worth a shot? I'm in Oakland. Thanks.

It's interesting...A league I'm just 9 games in has been having some discussion about him and is he overpriced, etc.

Personally, I like him. I've played him 3 times and had each of his WORST cards. I still think you can get decent production from each of them. His 2 big boys years can be unbelieveable. For me...

Cedeno, Cesar '74 R CF 1(-4)e6 613 98 171 22 2 41 118 39 106 57 23 6 .279 .318 .522 1L 9.59M...on an 85 win team.

Cedeno, Cesar '76 R CF 1(-4)e6 581 93 170 14 4 20 93 39 68 42 17 2 .293 .333 .434 1L 9.59M...on a team that won the title. You have to add 6-25 with 3R/1RBI/2 doubles/1SB/1CS/1HR/1BB/1K because the stats are still missing

Cedeno, Cesar R CF 1(-4)e6 415 70 106 26 3 10 26 53 51 32 7 1 .255 .340 .405 1L 9.59M...This is his 79 card I'm still playing. Again you have to add 8-26 with 2SB/2CS/1HR/1BB/2K/5R/2RBI for missing stats. The problem here is # of games missed which to date is 26 giving him 112 games played with 24G left.

Factor in that 1(-4) and you always know he'll give you good D, xtra base potential, steals, and can always score runs with guys behind him who can knock him in.

Definitely NOT a #1 pick in my opinion. His worst season is awful, and I've seen it come up too many times (I got stuck with this card in on an Astros theme team). I feel badly about this since Cesar was my favorite player of the early 70s, until he (accidently) shot his girlfriend. I'd go with Pops Stargell, Bench, Morgan or Reggie as a foundation for my team.

I vote "great" also. Definitely a #1 waiver pick. I have used him exclusively in pitchers parks as a thumper, where he has been very good even when I didn't get his best card. Wouldn't take him #1 anywhere else only because others don't like him and he can usually be had elsewhere. I actually was surprised when I looked back to see that I didn't have one of his top two seasons a couple of times when he was very good.

'79 can be a bit rough, but all in all. He rocks

YF, this is scary! Somebody asks a question and up you pop with a complete list or database in response!

Hats off, gentlemen! A genius! :D

6th rounder

Postby Larryrickenbacker » Fri Feb 12, 2010 3:36 pm

Howdy,

After my recent bad experience with Cedeno in the 'Dome, I decided to draft him again, this time in round 6. I'll keep ya'll posted. SO much "upside" potential with him.
