Evaluating intentional walks to identify years

Recently, my number 9 hitter, Tony Fernandez, was intentionally walked twice in one game by a right-hander with two outs and Rod Carew on deck. I took this as evidence that I didn't have Carew's best year, and possibly even that I had his worst year, which has clutch outs all over it. I'm wondering if anybody's looked at the use of intentional walks against your lineup as a way to figure out what years you have.

I know that pitcher substitution patterns are a good indicator. Once, HAL stuck a RH reliver in a game for me, walked the righty and pitched to Remy. The pitcher seemed to be a reverse righty (most of his cards were, and the stats suppported it), so I assumed that meant Remy had his "4L" card. The ID worked for the other guy, though it didn't help me a whole lot.
