Autodraft Thought

Postby yak1407 » Fri Dec 09, 2005 11:06 am

There's another post here where someone wonders why they got the more expensive Rick Manning to replace Tony Scott in the autodraft.
Similar situation last night for me, I wanted Luis Polonia but ended up with the more expensive Vince Coleman.
Then I had a thought.
HAL must know which year for each player will be going into draft (hate to think it assigns the year after the draft, that would eliminate that dream year where you picked everyone's best year).
So when it comes time to assign different players to replace those from your draft list who are already drafted, is it possible HAL picks the best player available within your budget?
I seem to recall a couple of situations where the players I was given ended up having excellent years. Kal Daniels comes to mind and Ben Ogilvie once, although I cut him.
Anyone have any info or thoughts on this?
I'm heading into waivers with my new team and while I got 19 of the 25 players I wanted, I may stick with the relief pitchers I ended up with if a strong case can be made that I may have their best cards.
And I may stick with them anyway just to see.
