ON the subject of great starts...

I have a team, [b:c1cbf0dddf]THE SACRED COWS[/b:c1cbf0dddf], that is off to an unbelievable start, 21-3. It's certainly the best start I have ever had. It is the second best start I have seen. I was in a league with a team that started 23-3 and then 34-6. That team stumbled terribly, winning only 86, and finishing out of the playoffs. Could you imagine the '84 Tigers failing to make the playoffs?? The irony is that I won the championship in that league with a team that started 6-15, but eventually won 98.

I think this team I have is pretty good but not likely to continue their winning ways without some substantial changes. It's pretty much a fluke.

I was wondering what are the best starts you guys have seen... and conversely what are the most significant turnarounds.

17-0 currently 32-13, not so hot since the 17-0 start.

I'd like to mention a different kind of start. I took 3 out of my first 4 teams to the playoffs (1 champ.) Won 2nd champ. with 7th team. Made playoffs a few more times after that.
Since, I have not made the playoffs in 7 straight tries (many tough theme lgs. with the seasoned vets.) I am really wondering if it was all beginners luck....or if i keep using the wrong combo of players... :?:

sorry for jumping into yout thread ny calderon

needed to vent after being swept 2x last night

I feel your pain. I had a stretch of non-playoff teams and it wasn't pleasant..

It would not hurt my feelings if you slowed up a little bit, I finally think my team is coming around and I am 10 games back after 24. It looks like another long season.

My first five teams didn't get near the playoffs, the next four made the playoffs with three championship teams and out of the next two, one has no chance and the other is hovering around .500 and I can't seem to get them jumpstarted. After the four in a row in the playoffs, I thought I was a genius. Now I am wondering if I lost my edge.

Though it's not a "great" start my last team started 51-35 and then imploded. Lost like the next 27 out of 30 games and that's all I have to say about that...

Nice start ny calderon...your team is on a 141 win pace!! That would blow the doors off everything in the record books.

I wonder if that's the record for most consecutive wins to start a season... Must have been amazing... play .500 the rest of the way and you win 90.
