Just wondering if anyone has had some positive/negative experiences with this guy. Always loved him as a player am thinking of trying him out...

Thought it would only be fitting if I replied to this one! :D

Joyner has always done ok - he's not to great against LHP, so that makes him a little pricey for a platoon 1B. His defense is stellar, so if you have the cash and you're playing in a good hitter's park, go for it. Just bat him down in the order vs. LHP or pick up a lefty killer to platoon with him.

Ive had good experiences with him and I think he is undercosted. He is a pleasant substitute when you try to draft Carew. The problem is that 1B is the deepest position and there are so many studs that he usually goes unnoticed. What's the worst that can happen? You have to play Hargrove, Driessen, Rose or Davis? Joyner still beats them all (except for maybe Hargrove-who I have seen start the season as a free agent more often than Joyner). Joyner doesnt have a bad year. The best team I ever had (102 wins) had Joyner at 1B. I almost dumped him at the 41 game mark (he was hitting in the very low .200s) but stuck with him since "he doesn't have a bad year" and he ended up .294, .413, .345 in Royals.

He can be adequate, but I would make sure to mark him for Bunt more and Hit & Run more. He hits into enough double plays to make you worry some.

Just like n real life, Wally's a good line drive hitter with some power. Great glove, great handler of the bat. He's won't overwhelm you, but usually won't hurt you, either. If your pitching staff is not top notch, I'd hang onto him for the D. If you have very good pitchers, though, you might want to see if a power platoon combo might be able to give you what Wally does more cheaply. It seems to me that, under certain circumstances, Bream could give me similar numbers and would cost less.
