Nice 6th inning TRIPLE PLAY. I have played many games, but never had one. Can you tell if it was unassisted?

They must be relatively rare. Its possible that managers have missed them if they don't check their boxscore closely.

I might have seen one on the discussion boards last year. I have defintely seen more no-hitters than triple plays.

According to MLB, there have been 12 Unassisted triple plays in the history of the game and 17 Perfect games going back to the 19th century making them rarer than the Perfect Game.

There were runners on first and third and the batter lined out, the runner on 3rd got doubled up, then a throw to first to triple up that runner(could have happened the other way around i guess, throwing to 3rd from first for the third out). Not unassisted it looks like, at least 2 fielders should have been in on it. My money is on Canseco falling down like a terd trying to scamper back to first.

*** TOP OF INNING 6 ***
0 R.Carew 4 Single b-1
0 1 J.Canseco 3 Single 1-3 b-1
0 1 3 J.Treadway 5 Line Out TRIPLE PLAY! 3-o 1-o b-0

They are more common in SOM than in MLB.

I've had 2 that I've noticed in the box scores after 80 teams.

I've had two in my limited career (dozen or so teams) and one no hitter. Not sure that is statistically significant.

If you have a good team on base it seems like you would be more likely to hit into triple plays.

The first three batters of the team i was playing were...

R.Henderson LF,CF
T.Gwynn CF,RF
R.Carew 1B

 ... Carew was on base.
