Hello everyone. I've got Dick Allen and his 1972 card on my '70s team, the Marquette Park Master Batters. He's had a pretty good year so far for me. After 93 games he leads the league with 35 HRs and 81 RBI and is second in batting at .353 behind Rod Carew at .359. Oddly enough, Allen's teammate, Buddy Bell is third in batting at .344, teammates Jim Rice at 75 and Willie Stargell at 72 are second and third in RBI, and Stargell at 27 and teammate Dale Murphy at 25 are second and third in HRs. While there is a lot of baseball yet to played, Allen's lofty position among the league leaders caused me to wonder whether there have been any Triple Crown winners in any of the online leagues. If you've had one, or know of one, I'd love to know all the details, including the name of the player, the league (such as ATG3, ATG4, '70s, '80s, etc.) BA, HRs & RBI. Better yet, give us a link to the team or league leader's board.
Also, while I'm thinking of it, one of the teams in my 70s league, the London Werewolves, has a 12 game (and counting) winning streak. What's the longest winning streak that you've seen? What was the team's final record? Did it make the playoffs, and if so, how did it do?
Winning the Triple Crown and long winning streaks are rare and noteworthy accomplishments, yet no provision is made for them in the online record books. Here's your chance to get a little recognition for your player's or team's unusual achievement!
May the Strato gods be with you. - Bernie W

I can say in 25+ seasons I've yet to see a triple crown winner. I did have a team once in a two team theme league where I had the Cubs/Astos. Billy Williams was on his 72 card and led the league in BA and RBI and was 2nd in HRs. That same team also had J Wynn who sas top 5 in HR and RBI.
In a league I'm currently in Dick Allen had 100 RBI at the mid-way point. I've also seen J Bench do that.

Not exactly a triple crown but even more rare, I saw Grant Jackson one TSN/SOM season take the MVP, Fireman, and Cy Young awards!

Hey coyote303: Thanks for the interesting info. Man, that is rare for a a relief pitcher to get the MVP or Cy Young award in Strato. To get both is really amazing. Do you remember his numbers?
I'm told that the triple crown for pitchers is to lead the league in wins, ERA and Ks. It is rare, but not as rare as the batting triple crown. The pitchers who've done it in the last 50 years are Steve Carlton (1972), Sandy Koufax (1963, 1965, 1966), Randy Johnson (2002), Pedro Martinez (1999), Roger Clemens (1997, 1998), Jake Peavy (2007), Johan Santana (2006) and Dwight Gooden (1985).
Oddly enough four pitchers regarded by many as the best pitchers of their respective generations, Warren Spahn, Bob Gibson, Tom Seaver and Greg Maddux, never accomplished the feat. In 1968, when Gibson had an ungodly low 1.12 ERA, he led the NL in ERA and strikeouts with 268, but finished SECOND in wins at 22-9 to Juan Marichal, who led the league in wins with a 26-9 record, but his ERA was more than double Gibson's, at 2.43.

Maddux was never a big enough K pitcher to cop the triple crown
Meanwhile
jmc has pushed his winning streak to 18!!!!

WOW, a 21 game winning streak! That is unbelievable! How about posting a link to that team? I have a feeling that we all could learn something from the way that team is built. - Bernie W
