1980

I guess I "HAVE TO" look forward to rebuilding some time so no time like the present. Both of my teams have severe problems in them but looking past 80 some good players pop up gradually for the Blue Jays so good bye Big Red Machine.......

Are there enough players for all teams to field rosters? I'm looking at my choice of the Padres and White Sox. I'd like to take the Padres with Winfield and Ozzie but they only have 2 pitchers and 6 position players. The White Sox are a little better with 6 pitchers and 6 position players - although 2 of these guys have shared rights. Neither of these teams have any catchers. I know we can chose players from the undrafted teams but I'm not sure that will help if there are a few teams short on players. Am I the only one with a potential problem?

This could be a problem. How did you end up with the Padres and ChiSox as your options?

It looks like you may get a top 4 pick so hopefully you could pick a team which would allow you to put a full roster together. I have some other measures in mind that we could take but I think you should try to put together a valid team within the existing rules, first.

There will be two unpicked team also to mine for players, however I understand the concern. I can see freeing all .75m players for drafting in 1980 only.

There could be an issue but just take that into account when you pick a team. I took the Angels and they have two SP (Tanana and Kison) and two RP (Aase and Clear).

One option is to make all 75¢ players available (only those not already elligible to 1980 teams like Kison for the Angels) or maybe just jump ahead to 1981?

Q: How did you end up with the Padres and ChiSox as your options?

A: By making the playoffs the last 5 seasons :P

Sorry, but I couldn't resist. 1979 has been a really bad year and it looks like the early 80s could be pretty bleak as well.
