I recently completed a replay of the 1968 season after reading the book "Sixty Feet Six Inches" by Bob Gibson and Reggie Jackson (thanks PWOOT for sending me the book).

There are a ton of references in the book to Gibby's career year (1968) so I decided to replay the season, managing each of his starts using the as-played lineups.

Since Hoot is so widely used in the 70's game, I thought I'd post a link to the replay site in this forum. Just click in the "60F6I - Sixty Feet Six Inches - 1968 Bob Gibson Replay" link in the recently completed section to get to the results and highlights.

One correction to point out to you. The Tigers defeated the Cards in the '68 World Series. Mickey Lolich won games 2, 5 and 7 (the latter against Gibson). Curt Flood, of all people, misjudged a flyball which went for a triple and allowed the deciding runs to score.

Gibby struck out 17 in Game 1, a record I believe still stands to this day.

D.Drysdale - 1.41 (actual ERA was 2.15, so he over-performed in the replay). He allowed 56 runs but only 30 were earned. The Dodgers made a bunch of errors when he was on the mound in the replay. Gibby allowed 57 runs (50 earned) in 58 more innings.
