I like 9 lefties against righties and 9 righties against lefties in any stadium. Sure, that gives reverse lefties and reverse righties an advantage but how many reverse pitchers tilt more than 2R or 2L (whatever that means)? Much, much, much less than straight pitchers that are 5R or 5L (whatever that means).
That being said, I wouldnt get too bogged down on the righty/lefty thing. You want goo cards. Tiger stadium is not that dramatically different for righties and lefties. Its a HR park either way.
Without knowing who the free agents are:
1. Id switch Dedmon for a lefty reliever., if there are any. Might even get an extra lefty reliever if there are 2 decent ones available. Nothing to do with Tiger stadium. Goose and Burke are both excellent but severely R tilting.
2. Not a huge fan of Porter but wouldnt surprise me if there isnt anything better available.
3. Kingman's 79 year is great but any other year is not worth that cash. There are alot of crappy fielding 1B who are cheaper and have one or two great years against lefties. That 79 year is pretty ridiculous though so if you have extra cash.
4. JAson thompson=underated. Randolph=overated but all the 2Bs suck. Not telling you to drop Randolph by any means, just wish there were better options. Randolph is clearly one of the top 3 2Bs in the game in my mind.
5. who is Wayne Tolleson?
6. Here is my theory on Bob Horner. He is not bad. If you have him on your team when the season starts, there is no reason to ever drop him unless you randomly pick up a Nettles or Walling with some extra cash and get their good year. Horner's worst year and best year dont seem to deviate that much. If every player on your team is as good as Bob Horner you will have an above average team, have about 85 wins and not make the playoffs. That is actually my theory on Stratomatic 80s in general. I have said too much.
7. If you dont get Uribe's 87 year.... well, thre probably still wont be anything better available. Whatever happened to OL? I was always hoping to get some article about the run differential between a "2" and "3" at SS. I really, really wish I knew if Smalley was worth it. I will say I have had Smalley on my team alot.
8. you should try to get a CF to hit against lefties and can backup for Lynn when he is injured. I just wish such a player existed. Id bet that GYoung isnt available and he is really not that good anyway.
9. Other than comment 1, you can ignore all the above babbling except for this (or, feel free to ignore this too): There must be someone better than Roenike available to play LF. Gibson, if you are lucky. With Jackson in right, Id avoid another "4" but still. For what Roenick does, Id rather have Deer. But, Id consider Oglvie, Downing, GBell, BoJackson and Lowenstein.
