90s Two Team Theme draft - jmc to close out the league

Postby LMBombers » Sat Aug 28, 2010 12:06 pm

Anybody interested in a new theme league? Here are some ideas:

1. Two team theme - We live draft any two real teams. You can use any player that shows up for either of your teams when you look at the players from the team drop down. Careful because many players will show up under multiple teams. You may not have exclusive rights. No trading.

2. Pitcher theme - No hitter over 5M allowed. No park rated over 10 for BPHR.

3. Iron Glove - No 1 or 2 rated fielders need apply. Any player that is rated a 1 or a 2 at any position (including pitcher) is not allowed on a roster.

Do you like any of these or maybe you have some ideas of your own.

I like 2 team as there is no one dominant franchise like the Reds in the 70's game...superstar players are spread out over a lot of teams

I would call league type three stone hands - Iron is kind of a good thing usually, like Being referred to as an Iron Man because you never get hurt. But in the movie Necessary Roughness they had that reciever who couldn't catch the ball, and they were yelling "Don't throw it to Stone Hands!"

I can't play anything right now, but the pitcher theme is most interesting to me.

I actually had a crazy idea of my own.

3 seasons, 1 70s, 1 80s, 1 90s
Full 26 round live draft for all 3 seasons.

The twist is that all 3 seasons are drafted at the same time, in the same draft, essentially making it one big 78 round draft.

OK, We'll go with #1.

Two team theme - We live draft any two real teams. You can use any player that shows up for either of your teams when you look at the players from the team drop down. Careful because many players will show up under multiple teams. You may not have exclusive rights. No trading.

Arizona and Tampa Bay were new teams late in the 90s and therefore don't have a large roster. For purposes of this league they are combined into one team. If you chose them you get both rosters AS WELL AS another regular team.

When you sign up there is not need to put a lottery state. When the league is full I'll ask someone outside of the league to run a randomizer to get a random draft order. There will be a 2 round serpentine draft to pick our teams. The person that has the first pick will also have the 24th and final pick and so forth. You must use a stadium from one of your teams selected.

When filling out your AD card you can only use players from one of your teams. It would be advisable to put important players that you share with other teams high on your AD card if you want them. There is no trading allowed. Miss a player you want in the AD? You will have to make due with some other option from your available players.

When you sign up please indicate if you prefer an 80M or 100M salary cap. We will go with majority vote. I won't vote unless it is for a tie-breaker.
