Before I built my first 80s team, I had the chance to look at a lot of other teams that experienced managers had posted for discussion and comment, etc.

I'm in the process of drafting my first 90s team. It would be great if some of you would post your teams so us 90s newbies could get a look at the players in action. You can post 'em here.

If you're interested in a team built for extreme right hand power, this is your team!!! Actually, the jury is still out as this squad has a rather poor run differential. The pitching has been better than expected.

One thing I'm learning is that you don't necessarily need a 5M closer to be successful. Also, pitching in general can do better than I thought it could, in part because some managers are seeking shelter from the offensive storm in pitchers or neutral parks.

$100M Coors Team. Looks like my team #1 will probably break the 70s and 80s records for team runs scored. Between the steriods and Coors, this team will have some scary hitting stats. Piazza and ARod's best cards. The Eck seems to be the only pitcher who can survive Coors.

In general I think it turned out OK but I missed some guys and have the 2nd waiver pick, so I'm more or less guaranteed to get a premium player. My obvious needs are at 3B and corner OF, but I could also upgrade elsewhere and go cheap at one of those positions.

Bonds, Larkin, Bagwell, Walker, Alomar, Rickey H, Chipper J, Big Hurt, Ryne S, Giambi, Giles and Olerud represent the available top hitting talent. I didn't get all the pitchers I wanted, but Pedro is the only available *SP above 4.25M.

I probably shouldn't say who I have in mind as my "big two, sure to get one" waiver options, but any comments or suggestions would be welcome.

I would grab Bonds #1, then Pedro & Sandberg. Pedro seems like he beat me about six times in the last two days and middle IF is at a premium. Ryno, Jeter & Bernie is a solid all around up the middle. Corners are much easier to fill, except maybe 3B. I think you could get another name player in round II.

If that were my team I would go Ricky and Chipper 1-2. CF is very deep so I might consider down grading Bernie. I have used Otis Nixon on a couple of teams already. He has a weenie arm but he can field and run and is an average hitter. Perfect #9 hitter. If you bat Nixon #9 and Ricky #1 watch out if one or both of those guys get on base. For a lower priced 3B I kind of like Naehring. I haven't tried Bip Roberts at 3B yet but one day soon I will.

Thanks for all of the good suggestions. Rickey, Chipper, Bonds, Ryno, Pedro...they're all tempting--and the more expensive guys would be attainable if I go cheap somewhere. Does anyone like Walker?

My original cheap was/is Jody Reed at 2B: 1.28M for a 2e9 at 2B. Might stick with that, though, again, Ryno is tempting.

One thing I'm contemplating is a cheap platoon at 3b...something like Mike Blowers and Jack Howell. With luck, that could handle 3B for very little and leave cash for other needs. That might be a way to afford Bonds, though in an 80M league, he might still be a stretch.

Further thoughts would be welcome.
