In Back to the 90's, in the game summary, where it shows each players at bat, it shows a number that ranges between 1 and 7, in a column for that game. Each batter has a number between 1 and 7, with most readings being between 1 and 6.

For a long time now, I have been playing 200x games. In the 200X games, they show you the actual die roll.

When I first started playing TSN online strat, I played several seasons in 2001, where they also just showed one number between 1 and 7.

QUESTION - what does the number between 1 and 7 signify? Is it the one die roll that determines batter or pitcher card (and column) for the card reading? Alternatively, is it some kind of coding between best and worst columns? I think it might be the actual "one die" roll, but I am not sure.

I think a "7" reflects a special play, like bunt or hit and run.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?????

I believe what you are referring to is the pitch count. That is the number of pitches the pitcher threw to that particular batter.

But they don't show the pitch count for each plate appearance in the 200x (2007, 8 and 9) versions of the online game - right??

The last 200x game I played was 2008 and looking at one of the boxscores, I do not see a pitch count, so it looks like you are correct.
