*** BOTTOM OF INNING 7 ***
0 D.Sims 1 Ground Out b-0
1 B.Watson 1 Ground Out b-0
2 G.Nettles 4 Single b-1
2 1 R.Jones 4 Walk 1-2 b-1
2 12 I.Dejesus 7 Single 2-H 1-2 b-1
2 12 W.Fryman 1 Passed Ball 2-3 1-2
SUBSTITUTE P - Ron Schueler
SUBSTITUTE PH- Wilbur Howard
2 23 W.Howard 2 Double 3-H 2-H b-2
2 2 D.McAuliffe 3 Fly Out b-0

Woodie Fryman bats with 2 outs and runners on 1st and 2nd. The pitcher (Jim Colborn) throws a pitch that the catcher can't handle which advances the runners to 2nd and 3rd. Colborn is pulled for Schueler and then HAL PH with Wilbur Howard who doubles in both runners.

Both Schueler and Colborn are RH pitchers so I wonder if HAL PH because the runners are now both in scoring position or if he thought the LH batting Howard would be a better fit vs Schueler than the RH hitting Fryman? Fryman is a 1WR so I would think Howard would be better than Fryman vs any pitcher.

Whatever the reason I liked the result!

It's probably more about the pitchers than the hitters.
Fryman bats right handed so Colborn is probably on his 4L season, which would be why Fryman stood in the game to hit.
After the passed ball, something clicked and HAL suddenly decided to play the matchups by pulling Colborn for Schueler, who may be pitching on his 9R season (or perhaps 72 as that's a pretty significant difference on OBP as well) and it was then that HAL brought in Howard as he'll be batting lefty in that situation.
