I have Neal Heaton's Lefty Killer Card (based on the .080 OBA vs LHB) , I am currently using a 4 man Rotation. What would be the best way to maximize the usage of this card.
1. Drop Cox and add another SP (can spend 4.3 M on another SP that isn't a *player)
2. Make him setup Vs. Lefties - have him not face RH batters.
3. Move him to #4 in the rotation, have Cox at #5, this way he can start when he can. (i could move him up to 3 as well for a couple of extra starts over Wegman)
Been debating this for a couple of days now would love some input...

Treat him like a good LH RP. If you find yourself playing a team with an extreme titled line-up of lefties, you can them spot start him.
I've tried to use that 9L card in a rotation and you will not get those numbers from him.
Set-up vs Lefties. slow hook, 2-3 innings max, don't bring in before the 6th should do the trick.
A good idea

Assuming you have 3 *'s in your rotation, you could get another RH starter, then determine which one to use in that 4th spot. He probably would be a very good setup man/middle reliever/spot starter. I might try to start him 2-3 games, just to see what he'll do. A shutdown card can be pretty effective (though the 9L is not the preferred Heaton for starting purposes).
I had that card!

In a theme league (teams could only have one pitcher over $4M), I had that card and he was great as an SP. He pitched 70 innings and allowed only 54 hits (2.31 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and a 5-1 record for a team that lost in the semis. I didn't have many options when I threw him into the rotation and he obviously faced some LH-leaning teams. I agree with Sykes, spot start him.
