I have not jumped into the 90's game as of yet, but it seems the 70's is the "odd man out" of the mystery card games... Its taking an incredibly long time to fill a league, at a time with Spring training winding down, you would think baseball interest in general would be peaking... Is The 70's Game Dead???

Out of my last 8 new teams I had (5)-90's, (2)-80's, and (1) 70's. I think it's the newness of the 90's game that may be making the 70's (and I think also the 80's) take a longer time to fill.

Are the 70's dead....NAH. I just think a new game registered on our radar screens and everyone moved over to make their aquaintance.

I agree their is a new game in town, but there is a finite group of managers involved in Strat, and a smaller number that consistently play the Mystery games. Managers will loose interest if it takes too long to fill leagues, and that only leads to less total managers. What about an upgrade to the 70s to include the 60s. It would attract the older crowd, which I am one, and maybe draw a few new managers in. My point is, there are many options for the younger manager to be involved in a current 2011 fantasy league of some sort. But we need to push to keep the interest up in our games and find a way to grow or manager base .

There are many options for younger players who like using more recent players and now with the addition of the 90's mystery game, there is one more. This is why I was advocating a 50's era mystery game, which incorporated some of the 60's era players. I guess there just isn't enough overall interest though...which saddens me. :(

I was born in the mid 60's. I play one team at a time, when its time for a new team, I ask the computer to generate a random number, 1, 2 or 3. If it comes up 1, I start a 70's team, 2 an 80's team, 3 a 90's so I play whatever comes up.
So I wasn't alive for much of the 60's but I'd love to be in a 60's or 50's league just to see players I didn't really see, like Mickey Mantle, and to find out about players I have never heard of.

I agree with a lot of what has been said. The 90s are newer, and more managers remember those players from their lifetimes. I think eventually, if interest doesn't completely balance out, at least the 70s will pick back up somewhat. Personally, I have had more success in the 70s, and I think it's specifically because I don't know the players as well (born in 73). In the 70s, I am looking at just the cards; in the 80s and 90s (only 1 90s team so far, didn't do well), I think subliminally in some part I am remembering that player in real life, and perhaps basing decisions on my own memories. At least that is what I tell myself to rationalize my poor 80s and 90s results...
