Ethical Question

I have a team that has clinched the division with one week left in the season. One of the teams in my division is fighting for the wildcard (it is close) and I play them 6 times in the last week. I also have some key players that are big 15 game injury risks and want to rest them before the playoffs. Is it unethical for me to take my "stars" out of the lineup to avoid injury? I would say no, that my only goal should be to get to the playoffs with my best team.

You need to worry about your team and keeping those 15 game injury potential guys healthy for the playoffs. Nothing worse than losing a guy like Rickey right before the playoffs.

I agree. Take advantage of your early clinching and rest your injury-risk players.

I agree too. Protect your stars that can get a 15 game injury. Play your best players that can't get a 15 game injury and continue to play your good pitchers (except for game 162).

And I am Wesley's league in a different division and fighting for a playoff spot. Within the rules, it isn't unethical to play the game to win.

To me it says something good about your character that you are worried about being unethical here. You earned the clinched spot, so you get to do what you want with your lineup, and I would bench everyone I could who might be an injury concern.

Wes has been in a bunch of my theme leagues and others that I have joined.

Top notch guy! Not surprised he asked this in the slightest.

I always feel bad doing it too but those injuries that last for entire post season series will ruin your season. Bench 'em.

Thanks everyone. It just felt weird, the league I am in is a theme league (Good Gm/Bad GM) so my backups are pretty terrible. Plus I have never had a lead this big (19 games!). I just wanted to make sure everything was above board. It doesn't really matter anyways as we all know that the Wild Card will knock me out in the first round anyways! It has been a fun league. Here is a link to my team:

Just like everyone else said, rest your stars.
You should be concerned with what's in the best interest of your own team, and not really be concerned with how it effects other teams.

I have asked this same question before and have gotten the same confirmation that you have gotten. I no longer concern myself with this kind of issue.
