Lots of 1Bs on the waiver line of last night's draft. Hernandez, Murray, JackClark and Cooper. Ive always liked JAck Clark but I have had some underperforming years with him lately. Never had Murray but he has been doing really well in those same leagues that Clark is sub-performing. What are people's experiences with these guys?

What park and mix of pitching in your division?

Hernandez typically enjoys great seasons on all five cards. Does quite well in pitcher parks with his doubles.

Murrary enjoys great seasons and can offer need power (besides doubles)

The other players - enjoy great seasons on those card top 3 cards with the other 2 seasons make or break on park / pitching mix.

Depending on your park and needs (power, OBP et al), I'd take Hernandez without knowing more about your needs.

KINGDOME. http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/80s/team/team_other.html?user_id=71709

Nothing but Power. Clark and Murray are konf of even on the power, I think. Clark has the OBP edge (but he strikes out alot too). Murray has the avg. edge and fielding.

Yikes

While I've just re-started my TSN career, you're team seems to be a tad off on its spending with your pitching and the $.75m position players.

In the Kingdome, didn't you want to invest a little more into SPs and one decent RP?

Otherwise, I'd take the LHB with Hernandez / Murray here to give you another power hitter from the other side of the plate. otherwise, I'd look to pitch either reverse LHSPs or semi-tilted RHSPs at you. With your investment in Rice, Ripken, and Horner - I ain't too worried about Lynn killing me.

this is pre-waivers. I tried for Clemens. Got Soto. Soto is no good in the Kingdome so I traded for Rice. He didnt want Rice in Royals, where Soto is excellent.

I would prefer to trade Lynn. I went for Murphy as my second pick and lost him too. I have never played the Kingdome, but I think Armas might be good there (and no where else) if I run out of cash. There are no stud pitchers on the free agent line but the usuall assortment of 5 million dollar guys. I just need to find the ones without BPHRs on their card. Probably going to trade Burns in. He is not bad but there are about 7-8 better guys on the wire. The top of the waiver line are Brett, Yount and Pucket and then all the 1B guys. I have a shot in hell at Brett or Yount but I dont think Pucket is worth the cash at Kingdome.

You make a good point about Murray being a LH.

You may wish to consider

Key
Reuschel
Forsch (not a great pitcher but his BPHRs are reasonable here)
D. Jackson (I didn't see him on the waivers)

Drabek (I'm not sure about his card)
Rhoden (I'm not sure about him either)

REGGIE REGGIE REGGIE (okay, you don't need him)

Cheap options - Phelps (love him or hate him type)

Armas is good if you lose out on Murphy and Gorman. If you get a nice selection of LHSPs in your division, he can return well. He'll hit the bombs but he'll need someone like Kirby in front of him. Solo HRs aren't worth much in the Kingdom -

I had Hernandez's '79 card in Dodger Stadium, which made it tough for him to live up to his stats, but he did. And then some. He and Kirby set up for Pedro all season long and the strategy almost won the division after a fairly disastrous start. I don't know if a similar strategy would work in the Kingdome, but I'm a big Hernandez fan if you have your power needs met with your OFs.

524-406 with Keith and not quite as good without. Three fiinals and two 100 win seasons. that is about as consistent as you can get in this game and the five completed seasons were either in pitchers parks or Fenway.[/b]

I've played multiple seasons with Keith Hernandez at 1B. He hits anywhere and hasn't disappointed me. On a just completed team, he slugged 27 home runs for me, playing half his games in Dodger Stadium.
