Question On Setting Initial Lineups

Before you are able to start making determinations regarding which card you've been dealt for each player, how do you vets of the 80s game go about structuring your lineups? Some of these guys swing back and forth wildly in balance, depending on the year. Their years aren't always consistent in the number of GbA chances, clutch ratings, walks, etc. either. I know who my leadoff and #2 guys are, and the composition of the meat of the order seems pretty clear, though their exact placements aren't. Just curious what others do or have done.

You've pretty much got to go with your hunches - it takes a good 75-100 AB's to get a good feel for the year your hitter is playing (unless an injury reveals sooner). I would just go with what the majority of the 5 years show as strengths - you'll soon know when to make adjustments. Keep an eye on your splits as the season progresses and you'll be fine.

Good luck & enjoy the best Strat-O game online! Long live the 80's! :D

Go for it

You set them based on what seems logical to you and then you watch to see the results.

That's what makes this a beautiful thing.
