Thinking of joining an auto league? STOP- consider this 1st

Auto leagues can be fun....until you are competing against the manager who decides it's a good idea to have Dennis Eckersley pitch 225 innings in relief. You may be in a division where all 4 teams play in the Kingdom. Realism? Not so much....You may be competing against managers who carry a roster of 23 players which includes the 5th starter who pitches exactly zero innings which means you are up against a team of 22. Worse, they are winning. Legal? Sure. Realistic? Definitely not. If it's free, that's one thing. But, the team might well have cost you $25. There is an alternative.

A league with usage limits. A league with unique stadiums. A league with managers who know their stuff. Only two slots left-give it a shot. I know you will enjoy yourself. It will be a challenge no doubt. You need to use your funds wisely to ensure you have 25 players on your roster at all times-not 23, not 24 and not 26 or more. Everyone playing on an even field. Let's test your managerial skills not your ability to exploit loopholes.

once you get this league filled, I think I have a job opening for you on my sales staff. I like your tenacity.

My motto, which has led to much success in sales and business, has always been, "Gentle pressure, applied RELENTLESSLY" .... sorta what you're doing to our 80's community !!!

Keep up the good work, and let's get this league filled !!

While I have no problems with limit leagues, or whatever, there is a certain amount of gratification about getting that 75 center who has his career years and you get to play him to death.
Frankly, I'd find it frustrating to have to sit any player who is really helping my team because I've reached his usage limit, or trying to manage his use so I have him for the stretch drive only to lose him for 15 games with 12 to go because of an injury.
Part of it too is you want a chance to show your manager skill, albeit limited by HAL. So if you want to be very aggressive with Eckersley, bringing him early and quick hooking everyone else, there should be leagues where you can that. Maybe that's a theme league, the overused bullpen closer league.
Stadiums, yes, it would be nice to limit them, maybe first come first served or even autodraft them so that each stadium is unique.
But, if you are putting together a team that wants to set all new power numbers, maybe you want to be in a division with four Kingdoms.
But hey, have fun with your league.

I understand people wanting more control, realism etc., however I think you will be hard pressed to find that in this game. This game is designed with "what if" in mind. If you truly want more control and realism in a sim you should try playing in a Netplay league where you manage every aspect of the game and usage limits are strictly enforced and as the manager you actually have enough control to keep within those limits. In this game so much is left in the hands of HAL it is not always easy to control usage.

Best of luck with your league and if you are interested in trying Netplay let me know. :D
