Raines at Fenway - Dog card or bad luck?

Never had a stranger experience in 27 teams than I do with Tim Raines. After 24 games, here are his splits:

vs. L 26 9 1 0 0 0 0 6 .346 .385 .346
vs. R 74 9 1 0 1 5 4 8 .122 .176 .167

Very few walks...any thoughts?

raines doesn't have a "dog Card" I doubt that you have his best year however.

You might have his worst card. You know, the one with the .393 OBP.

I understand what the card says, but I also have had many cards that continuously outperform/underperform what the stats actually were for a given year (for example, Ted Simmons and Bo Jackson have routinely outperformed, whereas Rice 1978 card always hits for a lower BA).

Raines is one of the few players that I have not used on a regular basis, so I wanted to see if one of his cards is "off."

John

P.S. I understand the .393 OBP, but he has 6 walks so far through 24 games.

Not as pronounced, but Raines has similar odd splits for me. Bad BA/OBP vs. RHP, with a lot of triples. Seen him go in the crapper in other leagues too, although I never kept track of what years the cards were (I don't draft Raines often).

vs. L 61 17 7 0 0 6 19 13 .279 .393 .450
vs. R 211 54 4 9 2 18 19 27 .256 .389 .316

I suspect it has something do to with the negative clutch rating.

Raines, T. (S, 1L)
AB R H 2B HR RBI BB SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG
Home 97 19 37 7 3 21 7 14 6 0 .381 .419 .588
Road 59 3 11 1 1 5 7 7 2 4 .186 .269 .288
TOTAL 156 22 48 8 4 26 14 21 8 4 .308 .361 .474

Toisan,

here's Home/Road splits for Raines in a league I'm in right now, after 45 games. Fenway is home park; he's CRUSHING the ball there; not even CLOSE in stats

granted, only one season, and I don't have a reveal on the card, but I would say he kinda likes Fenway.

I've had a few Raines cards when he's been a little below, but over the course of a season, his numbers are always strong, his RUNS stat is always over 100.

Any suggestions on how I boost his production on the road?

Sean

don't do anything...59 abs isn't enough.

Raines gets on base, or should, all years. Sometimes you just have to remember that, eventually, things will turn around. As long as he's on my roster, Raines is leading off, both vs. LHP and RHP.

(But then again, that's how I'm able to have 4 years worth of crappy Durham numbers...I keep telling myself that he's consistent and will snap out of it sooner or later, but then that never happens.)
