It's pretty amazing that a guy like Julio Franco, who began his MLB career in 1982 and thus virtually spans the 1980s, is still hitting big league HR at age 47. He now holds the big league record for the oldest man to homer.

Last year he had 233 AB in a league w/o the DH and posted a .799 OPS. Knowing the shape I was in at 47, I just can't wrap my mind around it! Another product of that amazing baseball factory, San Pedro de Macoris in the Dominican. Kudos to Franco, whose baseball longevity gives hope to us all. :D :D

Franco is (I believe) the only currently active Major Leaguer that TSN is using his name on his card instead of his team and jersey number.

Wonder why they could use his name on the card, but not Clemens, Orosco, Rickey, Santiago, and Larkin?

Don't forget he was out of baseball for a few years, at least in the united states...
