Is this normal?

Postby honestiago1 » Wed May 17, 2006 2:48 pm

I've played 11 complete seasons, and finished last only twice (one of those was an 86-win team). I have only two firsts. The rest: 3-2nds, 4-3rds (one of those won 84 games). I have 3 finals appearances, 1 championship (every one of the finals teams was an Astrodome team). Currently I have four active teams, two firsts, a second, anda third (74-79, but streaking -- won 14 of last 21, 18 of last 27).

Does this rate as a decent start for 80s play? How do the veterans' experiences stack up (when did success become common place for some of you guys [except Panzer Ace, who was born brilliant ;)])?

If 1/2 of your [u:b2f894ab1e]closed teams[/u:b2f894ab1e] made the playoffs and if 1/3 of your playoff teams won championships, then you are doing quite well statistically speaking. That's the bench mark I use.

I'm a little short on the 1/3 of playoff team thing.........

Also, I've completed 37 seasons and only have 1 2nd place!

All or nothing?

Jablow goes for the jugular! A clean kill or NOTHING! (which, speaking as a Spurs fan these days, I can really relate to).

Of my 28 closed teams I broke it down to:

1st 14 teams went to the playoffs 5 times and took 3 rings.
2nd 14 teams went to the playoffs 12 times and won 3 rings.

Thats 6 rings in 17 tries... and I'm pretty happy with the 1/3 ratio thing. :D

With 6 games to go in one league, my magic # is 1 for my second 2nd place club and my FIRST wild card team. Hoping for some of that wild card magic.

I have the West Wingers. Oakland Col. just didn't pan out for me. Tried like hell to reach .500 and choked. Good luck, man.

Went to the playoffs with two of my first three teams, to the finals with my second team. Boy did I love 80's then. Now, I haven't been close in nine completed seasons, except for one that missed the playoffs by one game. Don't like 80's so much these days.

Abby Normal???

Postby jsam9801 » Fri May 19, 2006 4:39 pm

Of my 25 closed teams, 11 teams went to the playoffs and took only 3 rings out of 7 finals appearances.

I have lost a few tiebreakers for the playoffs, as well as finished in a tie for 1st and did not make the playoffs :x .

Nothing worse than watching a dog team finish out a season....I am in a soon to be completed league (but not soon enough), where Jablowmi is leading my division by 50 games (my team is soooooooo underperforming).

Anyone need some friends so that I can up my community points??? 8)

My first 6 teams had only one 2nd place finish and no playoff appearances

My next 7 had 5 1st places, but only one championship.

So i guess you can say that there was a certain learning curve for me. :-)
