any opinions on this so-called hitting team?

I thought this team would be an offensive machine, but really disappointing after 33 games ... just bad luck or a bad team? How would you hit 'em? Playing in Shea.

C Hundley
1B Howard
2B Popovich
3B Buford
SS Brinkman
LF Stargell
CF Bonds
RF Clemente

The only two hitting are Buford and Clemente. Howard (.213 ba), Hundley (.161), Bonds (.214), Popovich (.222) are all disasters so far. I expect Howard to pull out of it, but wonder if the other three are giving other people fits too.

Hundley has been a HUGE disappointment for me. He's batting .202 through 96 games. I'm basically holding onto him for his defense....and the possibility that he'll pull out of his long slump and hit about .250. That's about all I can hope for.

I don't have any experiences will the others.

Good luck.

I have Howard in Crosley...after 96 games

I have Bonds on a couiple of teams and he is hitting around .250 but is producing RBIs and SBs. Therefore I am not too upset with that production.

Without doubt brinkman, popovich and hundley will not put up offensive numbers of any signifigance....

Who is your leadoff hitter? Does not seem like you really have one...maybe buford?

I think it is very difficult, or maybe impossible to build a "bomber" team in 69....just not a deep enough talent pool. I am more and more convinced that you get the best pitching you can, build a solid team, with perhaps one (or two if you can get that many!) stars on offense, and grind it out...kind of like REAL BASEBALL!!! :)

Buford leadoff, then Bonds Clemente Stargell Howard. I thought that would be a very solid top 5.

Thanks for the opinions. Popovich is hitting .300 in one of my leagues after 90 games; probably a fluke. I was hoping Hundley would at least be a 20 hr guy.

Yeah, pitching is the name of the game.

Switch Bonds and Buford.

I had Bonds hitting 2nd on one of my teams and he was stinking up the joint. Moved him to leadoff and both he and my team took off.
